Your New Name: An Interview with Esther Fleece Allen

Allow me to introduce you to my new friend Esther Fleece Allen.

It’s the second Monday in the new year.  A new decade even.

So I cannot think of a better time to talk about the idea of living out your new name with this amazing author.

The enemy wants to keep us incorrectly named becaue it keeps our eyes on our circumstances and not on the cross. But we are more than our temporary circumstances.  Thank goodness!  God will always call us by our names, and our dire (or even delightful) circumstances will never define who we are to God.

How are you defining and labeling yourself?  Who has labeled you?

Have you ever noticed in the Bible how God changed names when the character encountered God and His calling on their lives?

Abram to Abraham.

Saul to Paul.

Christ changes everything.

Friends, this book by Esther has been transforming for my heart.  To really take a deep dive into what labels I have allowed to be placed on my heart instead of living out the new name that God has for me.

I am not my limitations or my labels, I am who God says I am.

The Bible shows us again and again how our God is the God of new things.  God does new things in the world.  God’s mercies are new every morning and He puts a new song in our mouths and puts a new spirit in us.

Knowing our new name helps us live into a new reality. No matter what season of life we find oursevles in, God is constantly putting us in a position to be made new.

“Your New Name” pg 33

Will you do me a favor friend? Will you pause and think about the names you have either placed on yourself or been called by others that are wounding, limited and labels of lies from the enemy not the truth from the Lord.

Then ask the Lord to replace these with new names.  New labels.  Truth.

Because you are His.
