A Growing Season: An Interview with Sarah Philpott
Meet my in-real life friend Sarah Philpott.
I LOVED getting to do this interview with Sarah. She is hilarious and wise and brings beauty into a room and your heart.
She has invited us into the beauty of her farm (which I have loved going to since hayrides in college) and the things she has learned about God in her ordinary everyday life on the farm.
There are lots of funny stories on her farm. (spoiler alert you are going to want to listen to this episode if you want to hear a story about ducks, skinny-dipping children, and police and bulls– if that doesn’t leave you on the edge of your seat!).
We can learn a lot about God from the different growing seasons on a farm.
Harvest. (Don’t we all just love enjoying the harvest)
Planting in the hard soil.
The faith in the wait.
The fact that you can only be faithful and do the work and then let go of control of the rest.
Jesus talked a great deal about farming and I cannot wait for you to get this book and hear this conversation as we talk about how God is in our growing season.
Sarah mentions how on the farm, they are responsible for the sowing, the planting. How they can pray for rain but ultimately it is God who does the growing. That feels both freeing and hard to remember in our lives, doesn’t it?
We sow. We plant seeds of faith. We do the work and then we trust the one we worship.
I asked Sarah what you do when you do not like the season you are in. Maybe you don’t like the winter. Or the fall. How do you make it through that season?
Sarah has had to walk through some very difficult seasons of pregnancy loss. (If you or someone you know is walking that journey I highly recommend her other book Loved Baby)
I loved Sarah’s answer and I think it will provide much encouragement to you.
When you are in the middle of a trial or a hard season, you just have to cling to the idea that the glory will be found, there will be glory ahead. While you are walking through a trial, you don’t have to find joy in the trial but you can find it all around you.
I cannot wait for you to hear this conversation and grab a copy of Sarah’s book.
