Coming Alive at Advent: Day 1

ComingaliveatAdventDay1

Today starts the season of Advent and I cannot wait!  Granted I have been excited about all things Christmas since October ( yes I am one of those people) but I am super excited to come alive with you this Advent season.

It is the time of hustle and bustle.

But what if we pause in the middle and celebrate.  Laugh.  Contemplate.

Today for Advent Day 1 let’s reflect on this together.

The KING of glory brought the light of heaven to the darkness of the earth.

Have you experienced being in the dark? You know how people in America get when the power goes out. We just do not know how to handle it for more than a few hours.

I remember when I lived overseas and in the winter often we only had two hours of power a day.

It was such a big deal when the power came on for those two hours.  We turned on EVERY light.

We basked in the light.

Today let’s pause and celebrate the light.

If you have a chance, turn all of your lights off and let the lights of the Christmas tree (if you have it up yet) or the light of a candle illuminate the room.

And remember.

Remember how we are celebrating the light of heaven piercing through to the darkness of earth.

Your circumstance may feel dark right now.

I am praying that you experience God bursting forth His light.

I would love to invite you during this season of coming alive at advent to come alive in community.

Scripture reading for Day 1 of advent:
