The 5 Love Languages: An Interview with Jolene Philo
What a treasure of information this interview with Jolene Philo contains.
The study of the five love languages by Dr. Gary Chapman is fascinating to me. I was first introduced to it while living overseas as a missionary in Nepal.
Our singles small group did the book Five Love Languages Singles Edition. It was fascinating to take the quiz and learn the specific language that speaks love to our hearts.
Jolene and I dive into the five love languages in this interview, but in case you are not familiar with the love languages, the way simplified
Jenn version is:
Words of affirmation– your love tank is filled by people speaking encouragement over you
Touch– you feel people’s love through touch
Quality time– nothing makes you feel more loved than a friend taking time to spend with you
Acts of Service– a way someone can show you love is in acts of service such as cooking a meal, washing your car ect
Gifts– a way you feel loved is a thoughtful gift. This does not necessarily mean an expensive gift– but a thoughtful gift fills your heart with love
Jolene takes the concept of the five love languages. She uses her background as an educator and experience as a special needs mom to write this resource for those caregiving for those with disabilities.
Friends, there is so much wisdom in this book for those in a caregiving role, or those who love someone in a caregiving role. What a practical resource.
Can I encourage you? Take a second and take any of the 5 love language quizzes available online (use the good ole’ google you will find some) and learn your love language.
As you learn, think about those in your life and learn how you can best speak their love languages.
What a fun way to learn to love each other well.
Even if you are not in a caregiving role, please lean in and listen to this episode because it will help you see how you can reach out in love to those who need to know they are seen, understood, and loved.
Both the caregivers and those who have special needs.
