Life Giving Choices: An Interview with Lucinda Secrest McDowell

LucindandJennforPodcast

I adore today’s interview guest Lucinda McDowell.  We were placed together as roommates at the Speak Up Conference this summer and I knew immediately that she was a heart sister, so full of joy and wisdom that I could not believe I would get to call her friend.

And now I get to introduce her to you and her new book Life-Giving Choices: 60 days to what matters most.

When we try to make a choice, instead of intentionally making a choice we are too busy. So we default to the most demanding thing, the most eminent thing– but it may not be what God wants.  And that’s the way the enemy does it.  What if we get in God’s word and intentionally make a choice?

Lucinda McDowell

We all have to make so many choices throughout our days.

Small ones.

Big ones.

In-between ones.

How do we intentionally seek good choices?

When I asked Lucinda her favorite choice she said the biggest one is the choice to keep going.  To obey God’s call.  To embrace the lessons learned in failure and have the courage to keep going.  The choice to take care of body and soul when overwhelmed.

The choice is not to give up, it is to keep going.

Friends Lucinda drops such beautiful wisdom.  Lean in. You do not want to miss this or the devotional truths offered in this powerful book.

I have LOVED starting my morning each morning with these devotions– and I want you to have that joy as well.

I cannot wait for you to lean in and listen and let’s make intentional good choices together.

Show Notes:

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lordyour God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lordis your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Hebrews 6:19 (MSG)

We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us, in the order of Melchizedek.
