Seated with Christ. Heather’s book Seated with Christ: Living Freely in a Culture of Comparison dives into our struggle in today’s society to live free in a culture of comparison. When we live the truth that we are seated with Christ we live knowing we are not only invited to the table– we are included and seated with Christ at the table. That changes everything.
I remember those middle school days. Those days of wondering why I couldn’t sit at the “popular table”.
Of walking in a room and wondering who would love me.
Let’s be honest, it’s easy in our culture of comparison to still be asking those questions.
I look at your breakfast on Instagram and think about how I couldn’t even plunge my coffee french press without my coffee spewing out everywhere on my unwashed dishes. (This may or may not have happened to me this morning)
We compare our pace to someone else’s race.
We wonder why our family doesn’t “behave” like the perfectly posed fall portrait family that we saw in the perfect square on Instagram.
Heather and I talk about how she was struggling with secretly crying in the bathroom at church when she compared her life to those around her– and how God set her free by showing her what it means to live seated.
