Founded to provide an invitation to Come Alive in Christ
Coming Alive Ministries was officially founded in May of 2012 as a dream and a calling to provide an invitation to Come Alive in Christ. Jenn Hand, Executive Director and founder of Coming Alive Ministries, returned home after living overseas for two years as a missionary in a country where people worshiped idols and statues all around her.
As Jenn returned home, she found herself traveling and speaking to churches about her experiences serving overseas. She began to notice church pews packed with people who said they knew the living God but were living dead inside.
Coming Alive Ministries was founded as a 501 (c)3 organization to provide an invitation to come alive in Christ through conferences, retreats, written resources, and trauma counseling.
What We Do
It is easy for us to find ourselves busy and bored. Checking our to-do list boxes, trying to have Pinterest perfect lives, squeezing in coffee with a friend, while trying to convince ourselves to wear something other than our favorite yoga pants when meeting with said friend.
Meanwhile, in the midst of our mundane, we are trying to experience a meaningful relationship with Christ.
Coming Alive Ministries exists to provide an invitation to come alive and live alive in Christ giving hope and encouragement to the weary soul. We could not provide Coming Alive Services without the generous partnership of donors like you.
International Ministry
The last thing Jesus told his disciples was to go into all the world and make disciples. Jenn has traveled to now 53 countries around the world to shine the light of Jesus, partnering with local churches and missions on the ground, in particular, providing trauma counseling on the holy ground of suffering after natural disasters and war. Since 2019 some of the countries Jenn has ministered in include Haiti, The Middle East, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Ukraine (ministering in the war), Africa, and more.
Speaking Engagements
Jenn loves to speak at conferences and retreats. Every year, Jenn ministers to thousands of women at over 45 speaking engagements worldwide. Jenn has a passion for smaller ministries and churches that do not have the financial means to bring in speakers, providing her speaking at discounted rates.
Connecting
We like to get creative in ways the Lord may direct us to minister. If we can help you or your group come alive in Christ, let’s grab coffee and chat. It can even be a virtual coffee date if you live far, far away.
Counseling
With her Master’s Degree in Counseling, since 2020, Jennifer has provided over 3,000 hours of trauma counseling at no cost to ministry leaders, missionaries, or those in the community without the financial resources to afford trauma care. In the past two years, Jenn provided intensive counseling on-site for missionaries in Costa Rica, Columbia, and Greece working to help them stay on the field. In addition, Coming Alive paid for all the travel and expenses to get to the country to aid the missionaries. Jenn also worked with missionary families who had to evacuate the field due to national disasters or war.
Disaster Relief
Since 2020, Jenn has provided disaster relief trauma counseling on-site in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Chattanooga, Mozambique, the Middle East, Greece, Costa Rica, Mexico at the Border, Columbia, Kentucky, and Ukraine. These national disasters included hurricanes, tornadoes with hundreds of casualties in Mayfield, Kentucky, typhoons in Africa, war, and the refugee crisis. These disaster relief trips are all funded by Coming Alive Ministries donors.
Message from Our Founder
Dear Friend (can we just go ahead and call each other that?),
I am not sure how you ended up in this cozy internet corner, but I am praying for you. It is my most incredible honor to get to provide an invitation to come alive in Christ. To encourage people to live with their yes on the table and see what God does. If there is anyway that I can minister to you and your people, let me know.
My favorite thing is to speak at events, watch people laugh (I promise you will laugh), and sometimes cry as the Word comes alive and meets their deepest needs. Standing on the holy ground of suffering with people and reminding them of a God who suffered and will stand with them is my most profound honor. Sharing coffee and hearing your story is the greatest joy.
I do not take this privilege lightly, and if there is any way that I can serve you and your ministry, I pray I can. Maybe you need a little pick-me-up encouragement, and the podcast My Yes is on the Table is just what you need. Maybe you need a tool to help you dive into God’s Word—I would be so honored if you would grab a copy of my books. Maybe you are looking for a speaker at your next event or are a missionary in need of encouragement. Let me know how I can serve you.
PS: If you came here to donate to Coming Alive, I could not thank you enough. I am sending you the biggest hug and thanks because we could not exist without generosity from partners like you.
Let’s be friends,
Jenn
My favorite thing is to encourage my email community in your walk with Jesus with some short Bible encouragement, some laughter, and updates on what God is doing around the world. You can subscribe here (I promise not to spam your inbox!).
