On Using the Enneagram as a tool
Enneagram is quite the buzz word right now. Podcasts, books, online quizzes, dinner table conversation with friends– it’s a pretty hot topic these days.
I interviewed Beth Mccord on this topic because I love how she brings it back to the gospel. How we can use this as a tool (not a box to put ourselves in or a sword to injure others with) to bring awareness to our sin patterns, to take us back to Jesus, and to help us understand and interact with others in a healthier way.
Raise your hand if you feel like an extended pandemic may or may not have caused you to see some sin patterns that you may not like in yourself.
Being on Facebook right now may or may not be an issue for me as I see all the division, shaming, and fear spreading.
I decided it was important to re-air this episode from January to help us remember 1) how God uniquely created each one of us 2) that examining our core motivations and patterns can help us move more towards healthy ways to coping and interacting– 3) help us find what sin patterns we are running to.
The type 7’s for example –gluttony is a sin pattern. Hello wanting to bake and eat all the cookies.
I love how we are each fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139) and I love this reminder to celebrate how God made us, lean into the strengths of our personality, and look for the redemption and growth in our weakness as we interact with God and each other.
