The Characters of Christmas: An Interview with Daniel Darling #adventday16
I had the joy of interviewing Daniel Darling on the podcast this week about his book The Characters of Christmas: The Unlikely People Caught Up in the Story of Jesus.
One of my favorite things this Christmas season has been reminding myself that the characters in the Christmas story were not like characters in a Christmas special on tv.
They are not made-up characters following a script.
They are ordinary people that were caught up in the extraordinary story of Jesus come to earth.
I loved chatting about the different characters in the Christmas story with Daniel.
For example Joseph.
He isn’t talked about quite as much as Mary– but put yourself in his shoes.
The Bible calls Him a righteous man and I agree. He did the right thing and followed in obedience many different times.
Imagine the fears that would come as the Father/Non-Father of the son of God.
He took Mary as his wife instead of publically shaming her as He could. He played His role in obedience in the story of the birth of Jesus.
