.. When God surprises us.. #comingaliveatchristmas#day21
True confession time. I have been watching a great deal of Hallmark Movies on TV lately. Christmas Hallmark movies– well, I am a sucker for them.
And let’s be honest. There is not usually that many surprises in them. You can pretty much guess, well guarantee what will happen.
The city girl comes to the country for a real country Christmas and falls in love.
The country girl gets transported to the city.
The person needs to fake a relationship for the holiday party and ends up with a fake finance– then they fall in love.
And snow and a Christmas tree farm are involved
Luke 1 tells us the story of a real suprise.
Elizabeth and Zechariah were faithful servants of the Lord. They went about their everyday beliving in the one who made their days.
But they had a deep longing to have a baby.
They longed for hope in barren places.
And one day, when Zechariah was going about His everyday priestly duties, an angel came with a big suprise.
The promise of a baby with a name and a calling. A baby named John who would declare and point to the Messiah.
God is a God of surprises. Those moments when He breaks into our ordinary and reminds us He is doing and can do the extraordinary.
