.. the Adventure awaits…

add-heading-5

Adventures do not always involve beautiful beaches and ocean waves.

Although I have had some adventures over the years visiting beaches.

There was the one time I planned a vacation with one of my missionary friends and I accidently picked the beach where all the elderly Europeans came to enjoy the beach… naked.

That same trip we ran out of gas in the scooter we rented because the gas gauge was broken so we had to walk ourselves and the scooter up the mountain– in the rain.

Adventures do not always involve traveling the world, although I have loved every world traveling adventure God has taken me on.

I still cannot believe this girl who took her first plane ride in college all the way to Japan (go big or go home) has been to 24 countries on an adventure with Jesus.

I think adventure is involved in our daily yes to Jesus.

As I have prayed for the upcoming 2017, God has given me the word believe.

Believe Jenn.

The first mention of the word believe in the Bible is in Genesis.

And He (Abraham) believed the Lord, and He counted it to Him as righteousness.

Genesis 15:6

I want this to be my story.  And Jenn believed the Lord and He counted it to her and righteousness.

God was asking Abraham to believe that He was going to have a multitude of descendants as far as the sand in the sea even though Abraham was super old and about to check in His retirement plan.

I imagine Abraham had no idea centuries later we would still leading children in VBS song of Father Abraham, spinning around at the end until we got dizzy and out of breath. (Well at least I do!)

God was asking Abraham to put His yes on the table to this new adventure.

God asked Noah to put His yes on the table to building a boat and watching it float.

God asked Rahab to put her yes on the table and hang her hope on a scarlet rope.

(How fun that these rhyme.  I didn’t even mean for that to happen!)

Each yes brings a new adventure of faith.  Of belief.

Sometimes the adventure means staying put.  Other times it means setting out.

Sometimes it means trusting God with unmet longings.  Sometimes it means praying deeply specifically that God send a fulfillment to a longing.

All I know is as I enter 2017, I want to put my yes on the table.

And as I do adventure awaits.

What are you believing God to do in 2017

PPS:  Can I tell you about an incredible adventure that I was so glad that I said yes to last year.  My friend Lindsey Hart created an incredible online course called Find Your Spark designed to help Christian writers and speakers break through blocks of things such as fear, being overwhelmed ect to help YOU on your writing speaking adventure say yes to Jesus.

This course was a game changer for me.  I could not pass up telling you about it.  It helped me recognize my own blocks in writing, especially my fear of failure.  It was super practical and very spiritually encouraging and kickstarted my adventure of continuing to say YES to that which God has called me to.  This course is on sale through Jan 1st and I don’t want you to miss out.  Click on the image for more info.

  1. Hey Jenn and so nice to “meet” you! I love the sense of hope and yes, “adventure” that looms as each New Year approaches. I know that God has big things in store…not necessarily easy, but always good. Count me in:)
