God of the details #comingaliveatChristmas#Day1

come

It’s the month I  get most excited about.  I think there is still a big ol’ giant kid inside of me.

I love all things Christmas.  Christmas music, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Christmas cookies– even the chaos of a filled calendar at Christmas.

And I really love the idea of Advent.  To slowly trace the God journey in the journey to the manger which then leads us on a journey to the cross.

Two years ago, around Thanksgiving,  I felt the Lord strongly lay on my heart to write a devotional book to take my friends on a journey of Coming Alive in the 25 days of Christmas.

To take a pause in the midst of the chaos and make sure to seek Christ.  To come alive.

That book dream, 25 Days to Coming Alive at Christmas (available here ) was born and I cannot wait to take that journey with you again this year.  You do not have to have the book to join along, but it is a bonus.

And Bonus:  On December 1st only, you can download the Kindle Copy for free.  And if you don’t have a Kindle, you can download a free kindle reader on your phone or computer.  All these free things guys.

So,  as we come alive at Christmas on Day 1 on December 1st, today we celebrate our God is a God of details.

I am not a girl of details.  People would laugh if I said I was.  Spew your coffee kind of laugh.

But I am so grateful that our God is a God who has designed every little detail.

The Christmas story is a story of God-driven, God-designed, God-woven details perfectly revealed in God’s beautifully constructed plan of redemption.

For example, hundreds of years before Christ, there was a tiny little book by a prophet Micah, and in that book, He proclaimed that a Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:2).

When it came time for Jesus to be born, it just so happened a census was declared by Ceaser Augustus, which required you to return to your families town of birth.

Which just so happened to be Bethlehem for Joseph.

God is detailing your story for His glory. (click to tweet)

Think about the details of your story that you are up at night worrying about.  That you think about when you first get up. That you wonder how God is connecting the dots.

Today, take a Christmas pause.  Read Luke 2.  Think about how that same God is detailing your story.

How have you seen God work in your details?
