Shaken… #livefreeThursday
Have you ever felt the ground of your life shake?
On to the prompt : Shaken.
I wonder if you have ever felt the ground of your life shake.
I am going to be honest. The ground being solid, stable, a firm place to stand is something I just take for granted. I assume it. I will walk on the ground, and it will be stable, steady, firm.
Unless I trip of course, which I may or may not be known to do often. Like the time I tripped getting on an escalator and took out all the people on the way down. The most unfortunate part –it was in an airport and I spilled out all of my 800.00 coffee that I had just bought. (Ok. 8.00 dollars, but you know how they overprice things at the airport).
When I went to Nepal to minister post earthquake, I really knew nothing about the Richter Scale. I knew aftershocks of earthquakes were a thing, but I didn’t know to expect so many. That so often the ground right under me would shake.
Shaken.
The first time, the second time, all the times the 6-8 aftershocks a day shook our ground, it shook something in me. Especially the ones at night.
There was something about being shaken out of bed that will really get you talking to Jesus.
It seemed to me with each shake of the ground, He shook something up in my heart.
We had some intense talks, Jesus and I.
And He showed me things. He showed me things that are easy to bury in your heart, that is until things are shaken up.
He showed me idols I rely on for comfort.
He showed me fears I didn’t know were even in there.
He showed me sins.
And He showed me His love. He grace. His protection.
I had to cling to Him. To run to the shelter of His wings. Nothing else really makes you feel safe or stable when the ground is shaking around you.
Maybe your earth is shaking by a circumstance.
Maybe God has shaken your faith up.
Maybe you want your faith shaken up.
This I know.
Christ is a solid rock.
He is a strong foundation.
With Him as my stability, I will not be shaken not matter what is shaking. <—- click to tweet
Ps 16:8 I have set the Lord continually before me, because He is at my right hand I will not be shaken.
Jenn! Wonderful blog you have here. I’m gonna be honest I laughed out loud when I read about your escalator dilemma 🙂
You know what really resonated with me is when you said, “There was something about being shaken out of bed that will really get you talking to Jesus.” That’s soooo true. Sometimes God has to shake things up in our life in order for us to turn to Him. We can often get too comfortable and settled and so He does what He does to get our attention.I don’t like it but I know that means He’s leading me from shaking ground to solid paths. #LifeFreeThursday
“There was something about being shaken out of bed that will really get you talking to Jesus.” Had to smile at this statement, Jenn! I love this post so much. I’m so grateful for His solid foundation. May I be shaken by only His Spirit! #livefreeThursday
Sometime I want to hear all the details about your trip. Thank you so much for being a part of #livefreeThursday. You are a joy.
