…. Above all else love…..

I love social media.  I love me some Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter ( still have not quite figured out Pinterest except I know that I have a TON of yummy recipes pinned on my recipe board and only a scant few exercises pinned on my fitness board, which I have never even done!)

I don’t know about you, but lately my Facebook  and Twitter feed have been a little more than  depressing.   Between war of words breaking out over red coffee cups and war of words breaking out on war on terrorism, refugees, and  if you only posted about France and missed posting about what is going on in other parts of the world.

Wars of words.  And I am not here to say  about anyone’s opinions either way.  I just am here to say watching the war of words with Christians has grieved me.
And I know we have to be up on culture.
And  do not hear me say that   all is relative and there is no such thing as truth.

The Bible is truth.
But I just want to make sure we do not miss love.

Our church is reading through 1 Peter in small chunks and it has been such a blessing to read slowly and really think on these passages of scripture.  It’s some meaty stuff.
I highly encourage you to check out the sermon series  Scattered,  Smothered and Chunked at my church’s website on 1 Peter if you get a chance  .  Click here .  It has been some of my favorite preaching ever.

I was reading 1 Peter 4:8 and it really struck me.  Especially after my Facebook feed had been blown up that morning by a war of words.

Above all keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

I am so grateful first that Jesus’s love for me and you covered our multitude of sins, John 3:16  style.
Then as I read this , I am convicted.  Above all else…. LOVE.
Is that my  way of living?  To above all else love?

Nope.  I want it to be.
Sometimes it is.
Sometimes it isn’t.

For me, this week, this is a great reminder.  To keep loving one another earnestly.
To love when it’s easy and when it is hard.
To love when there are good answers and when there are no answers.

Because in the end 1 Peter 4:7  God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.   To Him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.
Amen.
