No time for jealousy no room for insecurity…..

Friends– I’m back from my whirlwind 10 days to Haiti and then on to Michigan for the wonderful Speak Up Conference .  Glad to see you around here again!

Aren’t the ladies in the above photo BEAUTIFUL.   These beautiful ladies are apart of the sisterhood called  Soli Deo Gloria Sisters .  You can find this group of lovely ladies  (plus way more) connecting at  this home  http://www.solideogloriasisterhood.com/

Several of us had the blessing of meeting in REAL life this past week at the Speak Up Conference.  Speak up is a place where those who feel called by God to carry  His message through speaking/writing/blogging/social media get together, get equipped and get to experience more of Jesus. (That part is my favorite!)  There are wonderful teachers, and you have the blessing of meeting amazing publishing experts.

If  truth be told,  if we let you into the quiet corners of our hearts ( If I let you into the quiet corner of MY heart) , it is easy to walk into a room full of people who have the same calling you do an instantly start sizing each other up.  Deciding  which woman has it ALL together, which one is going to be so much better then you are,  who has the snazzier business card, better logo, more developed brand– who is ACTUALLY  organized unlike you who could not even find the  one sheet you worked so hard on– which of course you forgot to do until the VERY last minute.

This “sizing up” quickly leads to the monsters of jealous and the  prison  of insecurity, keeping us from fully walking in our Psalms 139 fearfully and wonderfully made glory.

This does not just happen at  speaker/writer’s conferences.
Insecurity and jealousy can take us by surprise in our church sanctuaries, our grocery store aisles, our  Pintrest  Pinning.

I imagine that may be one of the reasons that Jesus prayed in John  17 that We would be one just as He and the Father were one.

He knew we would look at the OTHER ones and wonder why  we are not more like THAT one, why we cannot have the same story as this one.

This week I had a wonderful time  at Speak Up.  I prayed before going that God would rescue me from the giants of insecurity and jealousy. And I had a blast.  I had a wonderful time hearing new friend’s stories of what God is doing.   Celebrating with them instead of wanting to be them.

Praying together.   Getting excited about each other’s callings together.
Trusting God is doing a work for His Glory, TOGETHER!

How has insecurity and jealousy stolen God’s Psalms 139 story in your own life?

The slideshow is some of my favorite people I got to be with/meet this past week!

  1. I LOVE this! I’ve spent most of my life feeling insecure and inadequate. I’ve done the comparison thing over and over. I love that some of the messages at Speak Up spoke to that very thing! I’m so thankful that I was able to meet you and so excited that we’re a part of not one but TWO writing ministries together! I’m sad I missed the SDG photo shoot 🙁
Excited to see what God is doing in both of our lives! <3

  2. Love this post! Like Cindy said, “Yay, God!” Yay, You!” I was in a workshop with you, and I loved how Cindy talked about you — “the most joyful woman I know”. Wow — what a Yay God moment!

    1. It’s totally true! Jenn Hand, you are the most joyful woman I know. As I look at your #SpeakUpConf15 pictures, I know I am not mistaken. You ooze joy, friend….and it’s contagious!

  3. I’m so grateful to have met you!! You’re right, the jealousy thing, even though I’m not someone that gets jealous easily, it sure came up that weekend. I’m so glad it was squashed because the Holy Spirit sure was moving along and taking care of us. We are enough. We are talented. We have just what God wants us to have.

  4. Your smile is contagious, my friend. I wish we could just travel the world together all the time and tell everyone about Jesus (and eat more taco together too). Your presence encourages me, and your words remind me of the mighty strength of the One we serve. I’m grateful to call you my sister, as well as my friend IRL.
    Love to you Jenn Hand!
    Cindy 🙂
