The day I became a minivan driving non mom
That’s the BEST possible way to start this post… where I get to share with you ..
Our God provides!!! (there’s your three words for linking up with my friend Kristin on three word Wednesday).
So for those of you that don’t know, I have been on a journey for the past couple of years with my little car who I named Toby the Taurus. Toby the Taurus was great his first couple of years. Then he started to break down. Bit. . by bit.. by bit.
He was completely unreliable. (He did keep my prayer life up though). In the cold.. below 32 degrees.. He would not go! Recently He started only wanting to go 20 miles an hour when going up a hill (this is not ideal on the interstate!) He sputtered and often stopped.. and well… just this Friday he decided the seatbelt should not click in, which meant the car dinged the entire ride– and you could not have a seatbelt.
I am in ministry, and single.
I have seen God provide over and over in so many areas. I kept asking God to help me to trust Him when it came to my car.
Some days I believed.
Other days, like when my car stopped at an intersection and had to be towed (again) I struggled to believe (and wow God showed up that time and some dear friends of mine helped me get Toby out of the car hospital).
God kept whispering to my heart , “trust me.”
He would not pass our required emissions test, so my tags were expired. I got pulled over once (at the Sonic mind you… a cop just happened to be eating next to me and turned his blue lights on and “pulled me over” while I was ordering my hotdog. .. so I had to go to court.
All this to say. … this Sunday.. our God provided.
I had actually had an amazing working at a retreat. The theme of the retreat was Luke 1:45 and blessed is she who believed there would be a fulfillment of that which was spoken to her by the Lord.
I came home from that retreat physically exhausted but spiritually filled.
My friend texted and asked if she could come over.
As she was sitting at my kitchen table with me, there was a knock at my door.
My friend and her precious family came in. I was surprised and thinking, wow, my house was not ready for guests…..
She talked for a second, then with tears in her eyes, said God has asked us to give something to you.
She handed me the keys to a 2004 Honda Odyssey. A beautiful blue has automatic doors, a DVD player, so much room, clean and best of all is reliable, will pass emissions, works, and I can take on ministry road trips.
God.. had .. provided.. for His.. girl!!
He is faithful. Oh so faithful.
I share this because I want to brag on Him. And I want to encourage you. In those moments of fear, discouragement and doubt, hold on.
God has more for you then you can ask or imagine.
My more– a beautiful minivan.
And nope, I do not have children, so I am the proudest minivan NONMOM there is.
Meet Opal The Honda Odyssey.
Linking with my friend Holley Gerth also at coffee for your heart.
oh how I love this and love seeing your smiling face! God is good!
