Freedom to love…
It’s love week yall…
I know many singles hate valentines day. I really don’t. I mean I don’t really celebrate it, because well– i am cheap and don’t really want to buy myself chocolates- but I do celebrate that I am loved.
On a retreat I worked this past weekend, we talked about how the word Love is thrown around with all kinds of different meanings. I love my family, I love my husband , I love God but we also use the same word for I love carrots (ok I don’t but I thought I would convince myself that right there)
My chalkboard markers which are so much fun to write with on my awesome chalkboard window my sister and her husband made for me. It makes me want to be all artsy.
So I love all these things. But there is another definition of love in the Bible . It’s the AGAPE love, the unconditional love that goes so deep that Romans 8 promises us that nothing will ever separate you or me from that love IN Christ Jesus. Glory!
I want to love deeper, more unconditionally. I want to pour out love on others without the selfish motives of being loved back in return.
It hit me afresh today.
Freedom to love is found in His freeing love.
His love that answers every question I have, every insecurity, every deep need.
His freeing love frees me to love.
What a wonderful attitude you have! To celebrate being loved is always a great thing.
My daughter and her single friends are having a valentine’s party and I thought that was an awesome idea. It’s always a good time to be reminded that we are loved. : )
“His freeing love frees me to love.” –> YES! What a lovely post, sweet friend. You’re a joy and that comes across with your perspective here. Thanks for linking up at #ThreeWordWednesday.
Beautiful post on the varying perspectives on love – it is a easily thrown around word. God Bless the English language and it’s sometimes annoying simplicity. 😉 I love the things you love too and it is so amazing to know that the love God has for us encompasses all our weakness and sees beyond our sin. Blessings to you, your downstairs neighbor at #threewordwednesday.
Hi Jen, The word Love is used a lot, isn’t it? If only we could all give the love that our Lord gives to us with no strings attached. What a wonderful world we could have. With His help, we all take one step closer each day.
