#livefreethursday

Don’t have much time this morning because 1) I did not want to get out of my cozy warm bed.  it’s 7 degrees outside for goodness sake! 2) I did not want to get out of my cozy warm bed

But I want to make sure you check out my delightful friend’s blog today (and every Thursday) for the #livefree Thursday link.  Today’s post really resonated with me. Check out www.tsuzanneeller.com.

The theme for live free Thursday today.  It’s not all about me.
It’s funny because I am studying 1 John and doing 31 days to coming alive.. and both today were about confessing our sins.
The freedom and power that in Jesus we can confess our sins.

So I, like Suzie, will confess– far to often I think it’s about me.
I put pressure on myself to perform.

I make ministry an idol and miss the people and their stories while trying to get out my story.
I think I can out perform God.

Which reminds me of a deep lesson I learned that was life transforming while I was in Nepal.
I had gone to “Serve God” as a missionary. I somehow got the idea He needed me.  He needed me so people would know Him.
Then I found myself in a village . Tired. Worn out (sick with a parasite which is a whole  other story).

I did not love the people , the place– and I wanted to go home.  Fast.
And I laid face down on the dirt floor in that village home and felt God must be disappointed in me. He needed me after all.

And while on the floor, nose in the dirt, God spoke.
He said , as I was reading Ps 63,  I don’t need you Jenn.
I want you.

Friends our God does not need us.
It’s not about us.

But He wants me. He wants you.

Let’s confess our sin of making it all about us.
Then let’s wrap ourselves in 1 John 1:9 promise that He is faithful and Just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
Let’s live free.
Ps: don’t forget to join Suzie’s link up every Thursday!
