Day 5– Prayer works
And besides, I was busy this weekend cramming in the VERY back of my sister’s mini-van. Me and her and my nephew Alex and his booster seat, then two more car seats and three more adults in my family took a road trip to my aunts farm to celebrate Christmas.. and I have to admit WE HAD a blast. Nothing says family togetherness like being stuffed like sausages.
Being on the alphabet game team with a 6 year old just learning to read means you get to cheat alot to!
I digress.
Today we will just catch up with Day 5 to 31 days to coming alive. Coming Alive in Constant prayer.
This was perfect timing because tonight my heart was nearly undone by the power of prayer and the reminder that God — the God of the universe– hears our prayers.
I was at an Emmaus gathering (an awesome non-demonational retreat you should go on sometime) . People from all different walks of life. All different backgrounds. All different ways to praise Jesus.
Some hand raisers.
Some ameners.
Some silent worshippers.
All Jesus lovers.
We were praying for a fellow community member who had been given a very serious diagnosis by a doctor. Words like agressive and cancer.
But the lady leading us in prayer reminded us the healing power of Jesus name.
and my heart was instantly taken back to all those who prayed for and with us when my Dad was in the hospital and not expected to make it. When God turned the hard of a hospital into holy ground.
When my sister was in her accident with her family and we were told there was permanent brain damage in her little 9 month old.. and God heard our prayers and healed.
I didn’t have the right words to pray.. some moments I could not even voice Jesus.
But God.
God hears our prayers.
We get to draw near with CONFIDENCE to the throne of grace. Your prayers may be whispered out of desperation or shouted out of praise– they are all conversations with the King.
As we prayed tonight I felt that moment become Holy Ground.
Any place our prayers tread our feet can stand on the promises of God.
I want to remind you tonight– our God is healer. Our God is powerful. Our God hears our prayers. He has extended his nail pierced hands toyou and offered you a chance to come into the chambers of the King.
Invite the king of glory in.
Amen sister! God is the most awesome healer. I know it’s true!
I’ve heard so many wonderful stories from the Emmaus retreats and really need to go sometime. What a beautiful story!
