Day Four—Coming Alive in Creation
So I missed writing this weekend. But I think there is grace in the #write31days challenge right? If not I am giving myself that grace and picking up today on Day Four .
I am here writing from my new kitchen table (which really makes me come alive thanks a million Aunt Laura), sipping coffee, and watching a beautiful storm roll in. The door of my home is wide open so I can watch. Sure leaves are blowing in, and an occasional bug or two. But it’s worth it. It’s worth it to have the door flung open and watch.
Sometimes we need the reminder to fling our hearts wide open – and watch.
Watch the King of Glory. Watch what He is doing. Remember He is moving. He is working. He is doing things behind the scenes that may seem unseen. He is writing a glory story, and He has painted your story into His.
The same God that created the universe created you, and planned you. God is a creative, powerful vibrant and colorful God. He did not chose to paint the universe in black and white. He painted it in color. The same grey clouds are changing to a deeper blue as the light of the sun begins to break through.
I live in TN which has some beautiful mountains. Although after living in Nepal—they would laugh so much that we call these “mountains”. They would say we barely have rolling hills. I remember once living in Japan and not really knowing much about geography deciding to climb Mt. Fuji. In flipflops and shorts and a t-shirt. I was not really prepared that it was a big giant volcanic mountain and that it would be the climb of a lifetime. My stubborn will and fear of never finding my way down helped me climb to the top. At the top the perspective was totally different. (could be my lack of oxygen to! And my frozen toes. Flip flops—not recommended gear for climbing Mt. Fuji. ) God’s perspective is different than ours friend.
Your situation may feel impossible—God sees the ways He is going to do the impossible and make things possible.
Your freedom may feel unreachable. God has already broken the chains and set His captives free.
Your life may feel mundane. God sees it as a picture frame to display His majesty.
Take a look at creation today. When you worship the God of creation, you are worshipping the God who is creating a story for you.
The same God who positioned the sunrise and sunset is painting a picture in your life.
What does your favorite place in creation look like?
What does it do for your heart to know that the same God who painted that scene is painting the scenes of your life?

I SO love the picture of the open door, and the wildness of wind and leaves swooping in. And the connection with flinging open my heart and watching God work. Thanks for this, Jenn.
PS: I miss you!
Jenn, I am your neighbor over at SDG. I had to smile when I read your post title, for this week I have talked about *dry bones* – and the need to come alive!
I so enjoyed this post. It was encouraging and uplifting – and joy-full! It meant a lot to me, as I am also a nature lover. And I live in the mountains. You know, when we moved here two years ago after being in the *city* for nearly 29 years, I was overcome by all the things that I had left behind – family, friends, familiar places. But I have always loved the mountains. And when you asked, “What does your favorite place in creation look like?” – I realized a great truth. It looks a lot like the view outside my window. The mountains and the trees and the animals and the brilliant blue sky and the changing colors of the seasons and the snow – these things have always comprised my *soul place*.
So, I think it’s time to refocus (yet again!) on the Truth that God is painting my life in beautiful colors – maybe different colors than before, but masterful paint strokes all the same.
I just need to fling my heart wide open…again…and watch!
GOD BLESS!
Sharon-
Wow thank you so so much for your encouraging words and for stopping by my site. I love what you have to say. What a gift! I love how you ended with flinging your heart wide open and watching!
