Day Three
Coming Alive in your Common
Do you ever just feel common? You get busy doing your common things, in your common day, and you begin to feel very ordinary. Very plain.
Very I am cleaning up the same things again. I am doing that same chore I hate again. I am paying those same bills AGAIN?
It can become easy for us to begin to feel common as we do our common things in our common days and slip into performing the motions of life before we recognize maybe we have forgotten to LIVE.
And then the enemy will take it a step further sometimes and whisper to us that since our lives are so common, we are simply common to.
A common thing in my life is crazy things happening to me. (or really I get myself into the craziest things I guess you could say). Walking into the men’s restroom accidently at a restaurant and that moment you realize you know the man washing His hands at the sink.
Getting my flipflop stuck in the door that shut behind me half on my foot half off and being unable to move off my porch and having to call for help from my neighbor Zelda who is as crazy as that name sounds she would be.
This is my common. But I like you can struggle with wondering am I common? I can find myself washing the dishes, typing the e-mails, wishing my laundry was put up (and I am single and only have to do those things for myself.. might I add I do not know you mama’s and wives do it for your prince charmings and your little people) and hear the enemy whisper : ordinary, unnoticeable, just a commonor.
You know what I have learned to do? Nope, I don’t go put on my princess dress, princess shoes and crown and wash dishes in those to provide that I am the princess of my palace.
I invite Jesus into my common. And it turns work to worship.
It turns my mundane into majesty when the King of Glory comes in.
He is already there—I just notice Him more when I invite Him into my common.
And then I remember—I am not common. I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139) by the God of the universe. He put me on this planet for His purpose.
He put you on this place—in your place—in your position—on purpose.
He notices you. You are known by God. (1 corinthians 8:3 but if Anyone loves God you are KNOWN by God)
That makes you anything but common. That makes you CROWNED to live out your life worshipping while you work
Worth it while you work and play.
Come alive in your common.
Share with us one common thing you do today and way you are going to experience God in that common.
