Are you a risk taker plus a giveaway #risktaker#write31days
I want to honor the idea of taking risks by sharing with you my friends new book by Jen and Craig Ferguson available now on Amazon called Pure Eyes Clean Heart, a Couples Journey to Freedom from Pornography. I am so proud of the risk her and her husband took in this book. I would recommend this book to any married couple. In fact, let me give you a peek into my review for them on Amazon. Not just for married couples struggling with pornography but a story of hope, freedom and God’s grace for anyone..
This book was such a beautiful portrayal to me of God’s grace, power and freedom in the midst of any sin struggle we may have. I am not married and do not have a struggle with pornography, but the evidence of God’s grace and power and victory throughout this book made me want to shout glory many times as I was reading.
My master’s degree is in counseling, and I wish I had this book when I was doing marriage counseling with couples. The concepts of communication, freedom, grace and forgiveness will apply to and bring healing to any marriage, even if pornography is not involved.
I would highly recommend you purchase a copy of this book for every married couple in your life, soon to be married couple– or anyone that just needs to remember there is always hope and victory.
The author and her husband are very real and vulnerable– and I found myself wanting to read the whole thing in one setting because it was very interesting, readable– and packed full of the mercies of God.
The authors took a risk in letting go of control, leaning into God’s grace and watching Him break the chains to freedom.
That can be scary . That whole letting go of control part.
I have learned to take risks in prayer. Taking risks and praying bold prayers is like letting go of control.
It’s much easier for us to doubt the goodness of God and pray safe generic prayers, instead of powerful specific prayers based on the promises of God.
But when we risk it, pray bold prayers we get to watch God answer those prayers specifically.
I remember when I struggled to pray bold risky prayers for my Dad’s healing. He had been diagnosed with a rare form of aggressive leukemia and doctors were not expecting him to make it.
It was scary to pray risky specific heal my Dad prayers. What if God did not?
But I wanted to pray the promises of God. And I did, with shaky not so bold faith. And I will never forget that moment in the doctor’s office when the doctor declared my Daddy cancer free. Even this week, we got a fresh reminder of God’s answer to our risky prayers as his specialized blood work came back again cancer free.
My friend Jen and Craig took a risk and believed God to heal their marriage and break the chains of pornography, and then share that freedom with others.
I learned about risky bold specific prayers—and How God would have been faithful however He orchestrated the healing of my Dad, on earth or in heaven.
Share in the comments one thing you have learned about risk and I will enter your name into a giveaway for Jen and Craig’s new book!
Jen, I know these authors are blessed by your review, and I pray that if there are marriages out there that seem hopeless that this will breathe hope and new beginnings to the couples who long for it.
I think the best prayers come from the shaky faith – because we allow God to see our struggle – we don’t pretend to have the answers. Oh, how God shows us so much compassion.
Love you!
That is amazing that your dad is now cancer free. Praise God! Thank you for your encouragement to pray bold prayers to an all powerful God, to rise about my doubt and to believe.
I would love to read this book!! I think we take risks every time we share our faith, what if we are judged, what if we don’t have the knowledge to “defend”? But I find that if I just share my experience with God – people don’t challenge me in a negative way and God’s love and grace can hopefully be seen in my life!
When we risk in the Lord, we can never lose. Bold prayers is an area I need to risk more. Sounds like a great book. Thanks for the giveaway, Jenn.
