Summer Manifesto

So last week was a pretty heavy week.  One that ended in Another miracle story for our family.  But one that led me again to pause and give significant weight to this idea…

This time it was a simple medical test for mom. Which led to the same room/same doctor/same test where my Dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2011 seemingly out of the blue.
Same room/same doc said to us on Tuesday this looks like a tumor in the bladder. We need to have a biopsy tomorrow and will try to remove this.

Same feelings flooding.  Not again Lord.   Why us? Why now?  What are you doing?
After all Dad did battle leukemia last year.  We did not want to take this journey again– this time with my mom.

I must admit I wondered if God was weary of granting miracles to the Hand family. And was weary of having to ask for one. Again.
But God.  We prayed and our friends prayed. And the next day the surgery time came .  And doc came to give us the report (us and the beautiful body of Christ that waited with us) that it was not what he thought… and He would be astounded if it was cancer. (and results showed it was not)

God. Showed. Up. Again (side note I pray that we would have praised Him even if the story was different, but I am so glad that His story in this moment turned out This way)

But it reminded me. Again. Life can change in a moment so be sure to live the moment <<<<<< click to tweet

So when I taught Bible study this Thursday, my group of Coming Alive Ministries, I decided I want to remind us all to be intentional.  We each share a coming alive moment each week.  What made us come alive that week. It helps us live in a way that reminds us that as James promises every perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights who does not change

So I decided we needed to write a summer manifesto for ourselves.

I didn’t really know what manifesto meant, but I had heard it before and it sounded so fun and fancy. It means, according to Webster a written statement that describes the policies of a person or group.
So we wrote our summer manifesto  And to be honest, I told them not to be all “spiritual” good Bible study girl sounding things. Because I think God is in the secular everyday moments, turning them into sacred moments when we remember to invite Him in (Ps He is already there).

So mine involved fun things, and things that I needed to do and check off my to-do-list so I wrote them on m manifesto so they sounded more fun, and things like enjoy my quiet time with Jesus on the porch in the morning.

Like find my room .. I am a very neat  unorganized person and my room is last to get organized
Read more books (so I got a summer library card)
Wear bathing suit more then clothes
Hike,
My favorite:  Try every half price summer milkshake at Sonic.

and others.

So I have a question. What would your summer manifesto be?    For the summer I am going to try (let’s be honest I sometimes forget when I make these grand ideas) to have manifesto mondays, where I talk about our summer manifestos. Would love for you to join!

Joined public library for first time in years

My written manifesto. Of course it had to be written sideways
