Capturing the Moment by Living in the Moment

This year I have learned so much about treasuring the moments… capturing them.. celebrating them because life can change in an instant.. with one phone call, one situation, one event.
This never takes God by surprise, but it can take us by surprise. Just like my Dad’s cancer and my sisters and her families car wreck did not take God by surprise.

It’s so stinking easy to live consumed in either the past or the future, and therefore missing the gift of the present.

Missing the lightning bugs lighting up at night

My little niece and I had fun catching some tonight until I accidentally squashed it in my hand.
Missing the beauty in the sunset because we are thinking about yesterday or tomorrow
I may or may not have taken while driving (bad I know..)
Realizing that the same hand that painted that sunset is painting a beautiful picture for His glory in my life.
i don’t want to miss the NEW things God is doing in my life because I am not celebrating the NOW.
We celebrating this little one, this precious HOPE this weekend.
She turned one.
The one the doctors said back in March would have permanent brain damage from their families deer accident when the 200 pound deer went flying through their window and knocked Hope upside down in her carseat.
God heals.  Here she is posing in her little hospital gown six months later.  A one year old miracle who lives life to the FULL.
Perfectly named Hope.
Hope even when it seems hopeless
Hope even when the tomorrow seemed scary
Hope
John 10:10 I came to give life and life abundantly.
I want to take time to smell the flowers.
To eat my cake and get messy to
To treat life like a princess teaparty
ok so true confession I just had to post the cakes because my sister and I made them and I thought they were way to cute.  It was a pintrest activity that shockingly actually turned out!
Celebrate

  4. Hi Jennifer,
I am visiting from Kel's blog. I love your appreciation of the present moment and your capturing it in prose and photos. I also know that God is up to something new in my life. He's reinforced that several times in a row, including in my Bible reading this morning and on your blog! May we live in light of the wonderful new surprises He has in store!
    Blessings,
    Lynn Morrissey

  5. I love your pictures. And I love this message to live in the moment! I need to hear that over and over and over. I tend to drift toward the future, either planning it or worrying about it, when I need to plant myself in the here and now.

  6. Awwww, sweet, sweet pictures. How often I get stuck in the past or future. Replaying events already gone by or fixating on how I want the future to work out. To live in the now can be really, really tough. I feel as if I'm constantly having to redirect my brain.

  7. Love the Post, and everything you said is true. I'm glad the phrase 'Don't miss the Sunsets has stuck with you. Love the pictures! I saw a sign that said, stay close to the things, that make you glad to be alive made me think of you!
