Small steps :-) towards God.. Sized.. DREAMS
Having a blast with the fabulous Holley Gerth being on the God-sized dream team with her. Check out her blog at www.holleygerth.com for great inspiration to follow your God-sized dreams. She feels like a friend you are having coffee with 🙂
i have loved reading her e-book the Do what you can plan. Guess what .. she has a book coming out in March called You are made for a God-sized Dream. You should go onto Amazon and pre-order it. Ok.. end of commercial break!
So our assignment as dreamers this week was to do something small.. to take a small .. KEY word SMALL step towards our BIG God-sized dreams and then blog about it.
It has been very interested. Something I have noticed and learned recently about myself.
Lots of my fellow dreamers in our God-sized dream group are scared to dream and even more scared to put their dreams out there for others to read.
Reading their posts made me evaluate.. hmmm.. am i just in ignorant bliss or should I be more afraid to dream
See I am not at at all afraid to dream big.
I am frankly a dreamer.
Also thinking of the big picture..
The next vision..
What I can get myself into next (and hopefully for the glory of the Lord)
I get that from my dad
We call ourselves pot stirrers. We like to be stirring and tasting lots of different pots at different times.. cooking up some sort of crazy life recipe!
I love to dream and dream big.
You know what SCARES me.
The small steps
The details.
I can dream all day long.. but those small steps.. whew.. taking those is where I get afraid
So I contemplated.. what is my small to my God-sized dream going to be so I can have something to write about this week.
And you would be surprised what small step (that seemed BIG ) to me God told me to do.
He told me to REST.
See Im not to good at that.
I am always excited, always wanting to be where the party is at.
And God told me to take a small step to my God-sized dreams.. and REST…
But Lord I am so excited to plan our planning retreat for coming alive ministries that we are having this weekend (and side note would you pray for us for wisdom and direction as we plan) I want to work on that, I want to write, I want to….
The Lord said this weekend REST.
So Sunday afternoon and Monday I did just that.
And it was hard for me.
Ha.. I would go to start to type, or write, or blog and the Lord said REST
I would go in my mind to think about this weekend and the lord said REST
REST.. in.. ME!
so my small step this week was to REST.
What is yours?
What a perfect small step: rest in God. There is no better place to be!
Love this…and your obedience to what God was telling you to do.
As a side note, whenever I read your blog, I just wish I could have coffee with you. I have a feeling that, as a fellow ENFP and BIG dreamer, we would have a ton of fun! (And probably talk until three in the morning?!?!) 🙂
Blessings to you, friend, and thank you for sharing!
Oh, girl, as a fellow pot stirrer I can so relate to this post! Yes, the irony, that rest can be the most difficult of all. Taking a deep breath (and maybe a nap). Thanks for this!
I love the way you describe yourself, and the way you dream BIG! How important it is to take those moments of rest and be renewed in Him…something I'm still learning to do. Thanks for inspiring me 🙂
