Come Alive at Christmas– Follow the Star (and following your dreams)

Ok.. so I have fallen down on the Days to coming alive at Christmas. Hahah. .i knew in my heart I would. That’s why I told you guys I would do it. I was hoping that would hold me accountable.  It has made me write more and be more consistent.. so I will keep working on that! 🙂  But I have gotten caught up in so many fun things in the Christmas season, that I put the writing on the back burner. Sorry guys! Thanks for sticking with me.

And if you are joining me today after reading Holley Gerth’s post at her awesome blog, WELCOME.  I am so honored and excited to be on her  God sized dream team in the coming year!
Speaking of that.. I got to sneak peek a copy of her e-book that is releasing January 1st.. you HAVE to get this book.. it’s called Do what you can, 21 days to making any area of your life better.  Check it out at

I just got the sneak peak of it today– and it is AWESOME.  It made me come alive and I don’t normally like things like the word GOALS.. haha.. but this makes it exciting.  I will post more on this at another time.. but just wanted to encourage you to go ahead and get this e-book 🙂

ok.. now for the Christmas post… all this dream talk made me think about something. I want to follow my dreams.. don’t we all.

But sometimes it’s easy to get stuck
To not move out of fear.
To not know how to take that first step.

To see the illusive dream out there– like a star in the sky, but have no idea how to move towards it.

This year has been a fun year for me of starting to take steps to fulfill the dreams and callings God has placed in me.. even when I had no idea what it would look like… when most days i had NO idea what I was doing.. When I had no idea how it would work out. But I am having a BALL!

I mean.. how does THIS unorganized, unplanner type girl become her own receptionist– open her own counseling practice, see clients, start a board of directors— figure out what to do with a board of directors– figure out how to apply to be a corporation– (when you have no idea what that even means) figure out how to open a bank account for a ministry you have no money for.. hahahha.. how do you take steps towards a dream, a calling, a sense of something GREAT God wants you to be apart of?

Key is.. you start… you keep your gaze and your focus.. and you follow THE one who planted THOSE dreams.

We had a little tragedy at my parents house this christmas.

We had a star topper on top of our christmas tree that had been there for years and years.  .. probably  at least 20.  We had to rig it over the years.. hahah.. in fact that base of it had become a glue stick holder that my dad had rigged.  This year’s conversation went something like:  I need the duct tape, a binder clip, scissors, glue, and another glue stick holder to fix this bad boy to go up on top of the tree.. hahaha.. my mom said, and I quote:  Mike it’s probablly time to get another star for the tree if you have to have that many things to fix that star)

It made me laugh.  But it also made me think about another star.

Matthew 2 tells the story of wise men from the east finding Jesus because they saw his star when it rose, and they followed it to find Him and worship Him.

The kept their gaze on that star to find the one to WORSHIP.

They followed it .
I am sure at times they wondered where they were going.
Maybe they got tired on their journey.
Maybe the camels wouldn’t always cooperate.
Maybe they wondered how they would find food.
Maybe they felt crazy
Maybe they wondered what others would think.

But.. They.. followed.. it..
They followed the star because they were looking for THE ONE to worship. The Messiah. The Savior

The took the first steps. Then the next steps.. then the next..
They kept their focus..
And they found their savior.

That’s what following a God-sized dream really should be.

Taking my first step.. then the next.. then next.
Even when at times I wonder where I am going… or maybe I get tired.. or things don’t go as planned, or I feel crazy.

Keep following that God sized dream.

Because really it’s not about the dream itself.
It’s about worshipping the Savior.
Following Him and finding Him

Bringing my gifts to Him

How are you following the Savior this Christmas?
