S.O.S. REST

Hi Friends.. Hope you had an incredible Monday and an awesome weekend?  What made you come alive this past weekend? Today?  Here were two of my things this weekend:

Sunday my precious nephew Alex turned four. I am sooo in love with Him. This was his birthday requested breakfast. Icecream and a banana.  Hahahah.. we may or may not have regretted giving him that when it was time for him to sit still in church!

Every year my sis and I have the BEST time making Alex’s birthday cake.  I have noticed every year the designs get simpler hahah.  This was so much fun to make.. especially with my sis because we are so alike. We don’t like to measure things. We like to mess up and laugh and make a mess
You should have seen us trying to get the homemade icing GREY.  Anyways.. who wouldn’t love a cake with my favorite thing on it. TOW MATER!
I hope you had a come Alive kind of weekend.
I wanted to share with you something God has been teaching me/I taught Bible study on Thursday.
REST:  I am really very not good at it.
I just get so excited about life.. so excited about so many things going on.  I truly believe God made me with LOTS of energy.. but still He calls us all to sabbath REST.
Right now the Lord has been speaking/convicting/whispering to my heart about even in the midst of all the excitement of following my dreams and calling— I need to make sure to experience sabbath rest.  We all need REST of some sort.  I asked my Bible study whether they needed physical, emotional, or spiritual rest.  The answers were as varied as the ladies.. but one thing in common.. we all need it.
I want to let you in on a random secret. I was a nerd in middle school and high school. An all out nerd.  My sister and I were ham radio operators 🙂 This was prior to the cell phone days.  We actually took a test and studied to be radio operators. I remember sitting on the porch talking to people all over the world.  I was KE4SPG in fact (aren’t those official sounding call letters!)
During this time we also were certified in MORSE CODE! (go ahead an laugh)
The first thing I learned was SOS which meant EMERGENCY.. stop.. pay attention
What if God is sending you an SOS that you need REST?
God gave me an acrostic for my Bible study ladies I teach and I wanted to share it with you
Stop
Open and obedient
Still
Reward
Ease
Surrender
Trust
Today I will share the SOS part, another blog post talk about the REST
If you need a spiritual rest, a physical rest, or a mind rest
And we all do in some way BIG or small
First:  Stop  .  Whether it is a taking a mini-vacation or a 5 minute break in your day, you must take time to STOP.  Especially if we need a mind break from our thoughts that can quickly get out of control.  STOP
2nd:  Be open and obedient to what God’s voice says
3rd:  Be STILL and let the Lord fight for your REST
Exodus 14:14 the Lord will fight for you you need only BE still
How have you experienced rest?  Do you long for REST right now in some area of your life?  Let me know your thoughts!

  1. When I sawyour FB post and saw the word REST m immediate thought was .."Rest? Whats REST! HA!" God has been working so much in our lives and has lead us to start an amazing Journey with him right now. I keep getting so excited and wound up that I have gotten to the point of speeding through life. Thank you for this post and these words. They really have hit home, we all need to be still, rest in his spirit and listen! 🙂
