Love to party?

I love love to party.  And I hope when I say that you are not picturing the go to a party and get drunk and not remember the next day kind of party.  Nope, that has never and will never be my scene (praise the lord.. and if you feel stuck in that kind of lifestyle and you happen to be reading this, let me share with you how you really learn to PARTY without all that).

I mean I love to get a group of people together, the larger the better. I love to laugh and play games. I love to step out of the mundane of life (wait is there ever mundane in my life– probablly not.. more like my life is a series of ackward moments but hey)  and get together and fellowship and laugh. It’s best if there is coffee. And I love love when I get to play hostess.  Something comes alive inside of me when I get to host guests.. I love it. I know it’s not everyone’s thing– and that’s fine. God has given all of us our specific things.  I am soo not a detail girl.. God skipped me in the detail thing department.. but He did sprinkle me with extra dose of let’s party sprinkles!

These past few days have been super fun. Friday night hosted a dessert party for some friends going to the Philipines to raise money for their trip.  Please pray for my friend Emily and Hunter as they prepare to go serve for a week. Pray for God to use them and transform them.  Had a blast making desserts for their dessert fundraising thingy. Never mind I made enough desserts to feed a whole plane of people to go with them– never mind I caught one pot holder on fire, and overheated one bottle of caramel sauce, resulting in a burn on my finger which I tried to ease the pain by licking and thereby burning my lip!   Still– had a great time praying for them and enjoying precious friends fellowship– and especially the game time afterwards.

Then Mothers day:  I wanted to make my mom a special dinner. So my sis and I planned a party for her. She always was the hostess with the mostess and all my friends really liked me for her cooking, her generious welcoming spirit and my dad and his jokes, hobbies, and tools.. so I wanted to repay her with a special roast.  Nevermind I had no idea how to pick one out. You should have seen me the 20 minutes in the meat section at bi-lo praying the one I should buy would suddently light up or be handed to me by Jesus through the butcher himself. Nope– so I just guessed.. then faked my way like I knew how to cook a roast.

This is not the roast I cooked I confess. it ws not this pretty !

. and the next day faked i knew how to make gravy. And it actually was good. Turns out God answers please bless this roast so I can bless my wonderful mom prayers. And our family– we partied. We ate.. we laughed.. and laughed and laughed. I am so blessed to grow up in a family that made fun a priortiy.  I love laughing with those guys.  And after laughing we napped.. what more could you want?
Then tonight I had a honeymoon shower for my former roomate at my house. So much fun. I remember countless nights us praying for our future husbands together– she really struggled wondering if she would ever find the one for her.  I would pray with her and committ to believing with her God had prepared the man He wanted for her.  And in two weeks she is marrying Him. So it was super fun to celebrate that tonight.

So why all this party talk?
I was thinking as I was preparing for the party tonight..
Jesus is preparing a party for us…. the marriage supper of the Lamb!
I know how excited I get to prepare for a party and for the guests to actually arrive.
The joy of having fun with them, seeing them feel at home,
enjoying the preparations.
How cool that right this very moment Jesus is preparing a party that He has already invited us to.
I would love to pull up a chair and sit next to you at that party.
I bet there will be lots of laughter, good food, fellowship, and of course
Amazing worship with the king of kings and lord of lords
There.. as the chief host of that dinner.
How amazing.
I bet we will play games after dessert to.
And of course Jesus will always win..
doesn’t matter if spades or skip bo or quelf.. I want to be on His team. 🙂

Doesn’t the thought of the love of our Jesus, to prepare a party for all eternity for you and for me
doesn’t that just make you want to have a mini-Jesus party right now?
So how will you?
How will you celebrate the depths of the loveof Jesus for you today?

  1. Can you imagine what it is going to be like? It took him only six days to create this entire universe. My, my, my, what amazing wonders will we behold at this party?
