How Beautiful the Body of Christ

The beautiful body of Christ.  What does that mean exactly?  I wonder if you have ever contemplated that phrase, thought through it, said it and not really thought about what it meant.  It is going around and around my head and my heart right now.. and well.. I drank coffee to late tonight.. and I just had an incredible 2nd board meeting of coming alive ministries (these board members are INCREDIBLE) and so I am too pumped and excited to sleep.. so going to write.. or ramble for a second… and after the board meeting all that I could think of was how stinking beautiful the body of Christ is.  ( I realize stinking may seem like a weird word to put there.. but it works ok ).

God made us all soo unique and different and He describes in 1 Corinthians 12 how each of us has a part that fits beautifully into the body of Christ.  I bet you to have seen this work and NOT work.  The enemy (Satan) loves to come steal kill and destroy the unity of the body of Christ and whisper to the toe:  you don’t really need the foot.. Or you should have been the head.  Or I have even seen him go so far as to say RIP off that part however you can…..
I have been painfully wounded by the people of the body of Christ at times, and I have received great healing in the body of Christ.  I bet you can say the same.  Tonight.. at the Coming Alive Ministries Board meeting I loved watching the body of Christ in Action. See there are those who are great at details and getting them done.. and then there are people like me who got skipped over in the detail department. There are those who are behind the scenes, and then those called to be the mouth I loved watching it work together tonight.. I loved as we laughed, prayed, and planned together seeing each part unify and work together!  I just had to celebrate the body of Christ tonight.  I want to always play the part God has for me in the body and I believe it changes at times.. I always want to be apart of building up the body, not tearing it down.  I want to be the toe or the toenail, the nose or the nose hair (that’s a story for another time .. ok well I will tell you now.. we were praying for my dad who was about to give the body of Christ talk on an emmaus walk and I meant to say for those that are called to be the nose.. and I said nose hair in my prayer instead.. talk about ruining the moment) whatever part God asks me to play.. I long to be beautiful. How about you?

I wanted to leave you with a few pics of some beautiful body of Christ friends of mine. Recently the week before graduation I had the joy of going to Charleston with some dear friends who were in the MA counseling program with me. It was 5 glorious days. All different types of personalities, callings.. but all with a love for God and for His people.  It was a beautiful time.. and it reminds me of how we may all be different, have different callings, personalities and gifts.. but God is creating us into His beautiful body!

  1. I do love how God has made us all so different and yet so necessary to one another! Even nose hair 🙂 So glad to have met you here today! Thanks for stopping by the Overflow, too!

  2. Look how beautiful all of you are! It's good to get to know you! Especially since I will be getting to observe God's beautiful bride in board form myself as well! I have recently become the Executive Director at my local Love, INC. office and will be working with a board on a monthly basis. Glory to God as we march on together!

  3. Just coming out of a year of hurt from some of the body of Christ, but seeing the fruit of sharing that has resulted from it. Only God can do that! Happy to follow you.
