R U a playdough Christian?

Don’t you just love playdough.  I love this picture of a playdough girl.  So bright and colorful and cheerful!
I did a whole Bible study on playdough the other day. The Lord gave me the inspiration as I played playdough with my sister and my nephews.  Actually let me rephrase that, my sister and I played while my nephews ran around in the living room.

R U a playdough Christian
or a clay Christian?

You see, when you make something out of clay or playdough, both have the imprint of the fingerprints of the maker in their image.  But there is a difference.
playdough can be used again ad again, formed into something new again and again
whatever is in the eye of the maker
but clay, once it is molded and left out,
becomes hardened and does not change shape again
I was thinking of how many Christians do we know (or sometimes we ourselves can be this way) where we are touched with the fingerprints of our maker God.  We let him make us into something, and then we just stay that way.  We “airdry” and then you can’t mold us anymore.
I would much rather be a playdough Christian, moldable again and again
Some Characteristics of playdough that can coorelate with Christianity
If you don’t keep playdough in it’s airtight container it is dried out and of no use, can’t be molded, or made into something new or exciting
The Bible says we are hidden in Christ and Christ is in us, the hope of glory.  We can trust our hearts to be held and covered and protected in the air tight seal of the Holy Spirit.  The Hand of God protecting us and keeping us contained in His love, hidden in him… just like the container of the playdough keeps the playdough from drying out, until it is time for it to come out and the maker make something new out of it!
   Colossians 1:27, Colossians 2:6
Playdough can be made into a million different things, whatever is in the imagination of the maker.  Others may not understad what it is, but the maker knows what their imagination is making it to be.
Our God takes His fingers and molds our lives… shaping us into new things all the time. His plans are greater then we could ever ask or imagine.  If I am a playdough Christian, I am watching God make me into different things all the time.
       Jeremiah 29:11, Isaiah 43:19
Playdough easilty mixes with other playdough.

As the body of Christ we were created by God to mix together with His hands mixing us together into something beautiful.
    1 Corinthians 12

Playdough can be squeezed, squished, rolled, flatened, OVER AND OVER

2 Corinthians 4:7, James 1:2-6

Playdough is  brand.  When you say playdough people can picture it immediately, even down to what the little cases look like.

We carry the brand of Christ’s name.  We should Ephesians 5:1 it.. Be imitators of Christ.  I want people to look at my life, my heart and know my brand.. CHRIST lover who is loved y Christ

Lastly if you happen to taste playdough, playdough is salty.
Matthew 5:13 reminds us that we are the salt of the earth. Like playdough I want to be a salty Christian

So I ask you
Are you a playdough Christian?

  1. Wow Jenn I will never see play dough the same again! You put a lot of thought into this post. I can't wait until you research clay in the Bible! Smile! Scripture talks a lot about God doing new work in us! Also that sanctification is an ongoing process! Great insights friend!

  2. very nice way to make a point!! I would like to be Christian enough to be shaped by His will…gotta just keep praying I guess!I am your newest follower..pls follow back if you can.

  3. My prayer is to be a play-doh Christian that you wrote about in this blog. It's so good to be wrapped up in God's protective container so that we won't get dried out and not be able to be molded for another use again. So glad that we are changeable and can be made new and have different callings and anointings on our lives.I love this post and it makes me want to go buy some play-doh even though i'm grown on the outside (but not on the inside LOL)! And by the way, you do have the brand of Christ my friend 🙂 I see Christ shining brightly in your life and can feel His sweet presence when I'm with you.Love you much,Your sister in Christ
