Come Alive Friday postponed to monday :-)

Hello friends–
Sorry i did not do what made you come alive Friday? I was in class for grad school all Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so I postponed it till Monday. But I still want to read your comments about what made you come alive last week. And I wanted to share mine.. hmm. where to start. So many sweet gifts from heaven .. from my Jesus.
Let’s see: Honestly I was not looking to forward to this weekend because the syllabus (for a person like me who really does love to learn but doesn’t like structure even the word syllabus doesn’t make me to happy!) said that we would be in class Friday from 9-9 Saturday from 9-9 and Sunday from 8:30 to 5. Whew.. that’ s a long time to be in class especially in this beautiful weather. but I looooved it. The class was called spirituality and counseling (for those of you that don’t know I am working on my second masters in Christian counseling from Richmont Graduate university and this class was on their atlanta campus!) The professor reminded me of Jesus. He was the most kind gentle man. He was brilliant you could tell, but humble. And He took the time to learn our names.. 20 students that He did not know (they flew him in from New Mexico) and within the first five minutes He made sure to address us each by name. That made me come alive. It reminded me that the God of the universe called me, called us by name.. glory (sorry for the side sermon). He was humble, gentle and funny and I wanted to learn from him. So I was pleasantly surpised that I loooved it. (although now that I look back I loved all my weekend classes in grad school). I loved building community with the students.. it was awesome!

Also: I did not know where to stay, so I got a cheap hotel on priceline.com. It was awesome. It was so nice and cheap..but there was this giant kingsize bed that I could lay anyway across.. THAT made me come alive! and I could watch the food network.. glory!

And He let us out of class early so I found a nearby park… how cool that God placed a park for me right there in the middle of big city atlanta. I found it and ended up hiking 4 miles on this glorious trail. It was beautiful and I felt Jesus walking hand in hand with me.
Then Casey had programmed a coffee shop I needed to go to in her GPS called octane. So I went on an adventure to find it. Got there, sat outside this swanky coffee shop and ordered a lattee .. it was the perfect weather and everyone of my sense felt alive. I felt soo loved by God in that moment. and then the lattee came.. how cool that God loved me enough to send me a lattee with 3 perfect shaped hearts in the foam design. Hearts and cofee.. glory

Then Sunday I was able to cook lunch for my class.. in the microwave.. in a pampered chef baker.. cooking for 20 chili in the microwave thanks to the fact that I had a whole pamperd chef cooking show worth of stuff in my car trunk.. it made me come alive because hospitality makes me come alive.. even microwave hospitality. They were laughing when I pulled out my own cutting board and knife to make homemade guacamole!

Then finished off the weekend @ cheesecake factory where I met up with some people from church. Folks I skippe dinner and went straight for the cheesecake… I mean it is the cheesecake factory. I had red velvet cheesecake.. glory glory glory.
Then went to passion city church where Louie Giglio pastors and Chris Tomlin leads worship. AWESOME.. we took part in communion. What a sacred holy moment. I was just overjoyed as I thought of the deep deep love of Jesus… asking Him to penetrate my heart deeper and deeper.
Then drove with the windows down and heat on (love it) music blaring to spend the next two days with my wonderful aunts and granddad down here in GA. love it! I am alive alive alive!

How bout you! please share your comments.

  1. Last week was full of trials but through them, He reminded me simply of His grace and how to learn to grow from those trials.

  2. This week I was blessed to get to hem 4 pair of slacks for a teacher friend of mine in return for 6 huge black bags full of baby clothes! I love sewing and knowing someone will look good because I could help makes me so grateful to God for the ability to sew. I had the best time with my daughter digging through the clothes to find things the baby could use and sorting for others we know. It was like Christmas in October. God's provision is always just what we need, just when we need it!!

  3. Last week was a blur for me. However, my cousin is coming for a visit in November! This made me feel alive! She is older than me, like a big sister when I was a little girl. I said her name before I said "momma" or "daddy" which did not settle well with my mom! Now that all of my Mom's generation have left this life and are with the Lord, my cousins are the only connection to my family by birth. It's been several years since Donna has been home. My cousin that lives here, and I hope to plan a day trip to the places we knew as . We plan to visit the house I remember as my Grandparents house (hope we don't scare the people that now live there because I will knock on their door and ask if we can walk around!). In response to your Emmaus weekend. I did Emmaus 19 years ago. Your comments re: the body of Christ working together using it's different parts is sometimes hard for us to understand and allow. Emmaus is a perfect example of one way this plays out. It also reminds me of the difficulty I had in accepting help when offered during a time when I was unable to do certain things for my family. My sister-in-law looked at me and said, "Lisa, this is the way the Body is supposed to work." Thanks Jenn,Lisa
