a Glorious B-day party
Half the people at my fun party.. more came later.. i felt so loved

1 Corinthians 8:3 says that we are KNOWN by God. I think that is the best promise from God. He knows all about us. He not only LOVES us, but He knows us. He KNOWS you. He knows what makes you come alive, what makes you smile, what makes you cry– He KNOWS you. Well on my b-day I felt very loved and known. I had a wonderful wonderful birthday.
The day started off with getting up at 6:00 am and getting to talk to my family on skype because we had power then. it was so much fun. We talked on conference call and I loved it. It’s fun to be a day older then your twin sister ( not that i’m boasting michelle.. don’t get to singing your little veggie tales song on me!) Then Leah made me my newest obsession a fried egg sandwhich.
Then I made 30 tortillas for my own birthday party. I know that may sound weird, but I really enjoy making tortillas so it was fun for me! Then I made the salsa.. then I was kicked out of the kitchen! So they decorated my house with some imported b-day decorations.. it was so much. Then came the mass chaos. 15 adults plus 5 children plus a ton of balloons makes for such fun CHAOS. I had a blast I felt so loved and special. We had mexican food (my favorite here) and then came the BIG unveiling.. leah’s theme cake for me was a chocholate cake with yummy white icing sent from america.. it was in the shape of a coffee mug.. how awesome is that! And then there were little coffee mug shapes with a straw bent for the handle. It was so cool
then came the gifts which made me feel so loved. Leah told me that the theme of the party was Jenn’s favorite things: She had made this really really cool book of gift certificates.. and alot of envelopes with money because most of the people don’t’ understand a gift certificate here! so the book was full of certificates from my friends of all my favorite things: I got a 1)little stove top espresso maker that was soo much fun to make espressos.. but boy we were wired 2) shyam bought me a new beaker for my french press from starbucks.. it had broken and i was so sad because my dad gave it to me and it was important to me. Who knew you could replace it with a chemistry beaker 3) 2 bouquets of beautiful fresh flowers 4) a ton of certificates to all the different coffee shops I frequent 5) a two hour massage at my happy place (which i have already used) 6) money for my favorite jewlery shop 7) a gift certificate for my favorite salon with a hot oil massage, hair cut, manicure and pedicure (yeah. i know.. pretty awesome huh)… and 8) money for a journal from my favorite paper company 9) a GC to my favorite mexican restraunt 10) a GC to two different of my favorite pizza restaraunt, plus soft serve icecream (it’s the only restraunt that has that!)
11) I almost forgot.. I had wanted to starbucks mug from ireland soo bad when i was there.. but did not think i had room for it in my one backpack.. so my friend steph sent one from ireland.. (thanks so sneaky leah!)
So wow. talk about feeling loved. I just felt so KNOWN. I mean these people knew all my favorites.. and they gave them to me. And then guess what my FAVORITE gift was.. that actually made me cry.. it was an album that said Jenn’s favorite little man. Leah printed off all kinds of pictures of me and Alex, and then more recent pictures of him from my sis’s website. Isn’t that so awesome. I frankly have looked at the pictures of my little man everyday. Oh yeah– and on the gift certificates they had a picture of Alex’s face right next to where it said Jenn’s favorite things.
So really I was spoiled rotten. I had a blast at my party. After the famlies left , my single friends from BS stayed.. we made espressos which was so much fun and played games. Oh yeah.. i forgot to tell you that one of my gift certicates as a joke said for 4 more hours of power. redeemable but unreliable it said. Guess what.. for my birthday..we had 8 straight hours of power in a row.. that is unheard of! what a gift.
Speaking of power.. more pictures will be posted later.. the power is going out in 2 minutes!

So thanks so everyone who made me b-day soo special. Thanks to my paretns for their awesome package.. for my sister for being the BEST sister in the whole wide world.. the greatest GIFT God ever gave me. for my little man for being my favorite thing.. and to God who KNOWS me.. (and all the other packages that people say are coming.. thanks.. i know it’s very expensive to send gifts and it means the world that you think of me!)
So then my other big news: God gave me a HUGE gift.. I am leaving for 5 days in thailand tommorow. Some really cheap tickets came up. i mean really CHEAP.. and someone happened to give me that amount in cash and tell me to use it for whatever I want. So me and my friend Jessica are GOING TO THAILAND.. we are going to stay at Phuket beach. We leave tommorow.. wow.. God spoils his daughter Jen Rotten. It will be so nice to be out of the horrible pollution, and to have power and water (we’re out of both around here!)
Glory!
Glory Glory girlie. You deserved that celebration and more! And I am so blessed by the thoughtfulness of Leah’s gift. It made me cry! I am so glad you got to have pics of your fav little man. And I want you to know you are one of his fav people ever! Already! I love you so much. Have a blast in Thailand!
I am so glad that you had a great birthday and that we got to all talk to you on it. It sounds like a lot of people love you there and made it special for you since we couldn’t be with you and love on you. We enjoyed our birthday meal with Michelle(your younger sister. I made her a cookie cake per her request and she said she loved it even though the decorating wasn’t very good. I can blame it on not feeling good and promise next year I will make one better for both of you I hope. Have fun on your mini vacation that you really deserve. We love you lots and lots and are thankful for the blessing God gave us 27 years ago when we received not one but two wonderful baby girls. we look forward to hearing from you when you get back about your trip. We all will enjoy our trip to the Whitestone Inn thanks to you. Love you!!!
Hey Jenn, I’m so sorry I didn’t get a message to you on your actual birthday. I have been so busy trying to get my house put back together! I did think about you and Michelle and meant to send a message. Happy Happy Belated Birthday!!!! You sure did have a great party! I have something for your birthday; but I want to send some other things too; and I’ve got to get them together. I’d better hurry before you come home, huh? We all love you very much and miss you! Happy Birthday again! Love and hugs, Aunt Brenda

Jenn,
I have a question. How does everyone manage to look so happy and pretty and clean when you have no power and no water? Must be the glory of the Lord because I would be looking pretty scary if I couldn’t wash and blow dry my hair! And I doubt there would be a huge smile on my face. You are amazing!
Love you bunches,
Sandra
Oh you sweet girl! It sounds like your birthday dinner was really similar to last year’s birthday dinner. I wish I could have been there for this one!
I love how well your friends know you!! I love you and miss you so much! It’s completely unacceptable that it’s been so long since we talked. 🙁
