spring has sprung!
Don’t these flowers just make you smile. I love them. I love how cheap flowers are here!
Nothing like a beautiful spring bouquet of flowers!
Howdy folks. Spring has sprung here and i just have to praise God for it. It’s getting warm outside.. glory– which means that you are starting to begin to not be able to see your breath inside– another glory! I love it. I love that God made seasons for us. I enjoy winter for about a month– then I am over it (well at least in nepal.. in america I could handle it for longer.. but there is power there and HEAT and well that tends to make a difference!) By the end of December I was super ready for Spring. Now spring is here and I just want to praise a God who makes seasons. I am glad that God takes us through different seasons in our lives… but as we go through the different changing seasons He is the SAME God. Just because it seems cold at a time– doesn’t mean that God is not right there with us. In the seasons when the flowers seem to be blooming and the birds are chirping, God is with us! In the fall when things are changing colors and then the dead leaves fall, God is with us. Sometimes He causes us to go through this seasons so that which is dead in us can be let go. And then there is the warmth of summer. Wow. What an awesome God! SO whatever season you are in right now.. just remember with God there is always a time of spring, new growth, new life!
So I have had a great week. Last night at Bible study there were 13 ladies here– in the winter we went down in numbers because it was so cold and it got dark so early. So i was so excited to see some of the ladies return. We had a blast. We laughed and talked and I shared some from the Word. The exciting thing is there were two Hindu Ladies there. One of the ladies has become a regular. I was so excited because every week I have them tell their praises, how God has blessed them that week! She said: I was really sick the other night and scared because I could not even got out of the bed. I could not ask for help because I could not get to the door. But I was laying there and my four year old daughter said don’t worry, just pray (her daughter has been coming to the fellowship with us and has been coming to the sunday school i teach at church). So i prayed and a friend of mine came to the door and asked if I needed help. God sent her! How exciting. Please pray that this lady and her daughter continue to learn about the one true God.
This week is the week for many pagan festivals in nepal.. On monday they celebrated the birthday of Shiva, the main god that hindu’s worship. How do they celebrate? by building big bonfires and smoking pot. Very wholesome holiday huh?
So I have a coffee confession to make: I tell you my love of coffee is really going to get me in trouble one of these days. The other day I had some extra time after language school– so i went to the only quiet peaceful garden you can find in kathmandu. It really is beautiful there. So I went to spend some time with Jesus. I was there and really craving some ICED coffee. so I ordered some– I asked the guy to put some caramel syrup in it, and that threw him off alot. They are not to good with substitutions here. So when He came out with a hot coffee I just figured I had thrown him off to much so i would just drink it since I paid for it. It was disgusting. I felt like I was drinking fire. I was not sure if it was the caramel, or bad cream.. but I did not like it one bit. But again since I had paid for it, I kept drinking, in small sips mind you because that is all I could take. When the waiter came back, I asked him what exactly was in my coffee. He proceeded to tell me in nepalee- ROXY. Roxy is the nepalee word for WHISKY. hehheh.. it had a tiny bit of espresso in it and the rest of it was whisky. no wonder it tasted like fire. .. no wonder the Lord seemed to REALLY be speaking to me in my quiet time. The waiter thought i had ordered IRISH COFFEE. Oh well!
Jennifer you are awesome! First you have me enjoying the beautiful flowers, then you have me praising God for the seasons of my life and how He carries me through them, then you have me laughing at you and your latest coffee adventure. It was so great to get to talk to you so long the other day. I am thankful you are feeling better. I love you so much! Keep up the wonderful writing!
a cup of mostly whiskey… ??
Young lady, I’m gonna have to spank you? Just kidding….
a cup of strong whisky sounds like you ended up with a serious buzz… I can only imagine how silly you were the rest of the day.
You words on changine seasons were encouraging to me and very powerful.
I love you
Dad
Jenn! I can’t believe you were getting liquored up when you were supposed to be spending time with Jesus! You little rebel, you!
I love and miss you so much!
It sounds like you should have ordered that coffee when you had bad congestion a week or so ago! How funny…I can’t imagine coffee and whiskey being a good combo…hmmm, no thanks! Good times!
Whooo-whe!! Sounds like you had yourself a jolly old time with your bad self! I can just imagine that it did burn like fire–probably all the way down! Well, I suppose that’s a good way to keep warm.
We do have so much to be thankful for, don’t we? God made us a beautiful world to live in. Sometimes we kind of take it for granted when we need to just be still and take it all in.
I enjoyed the pictures of the flowers. I love flowers, and those were just beautiful–just like you, my sweet niece. I love you, Aunt Brenda
Honestly, a drunk mi**ion*r* in Nepal! Girl you get into more messes and I love hearing about everyone of them. I too think you should have ordered up that coffee when you were sick. At least next time you will know where to go when you get ill again. ha! We miss you and to be frank! We want spring time here so badly also. We loved the flower and we can’t wait for you to return to the USA so we can hug you! Take care…..Mama Ellis

Hey Jenn, has anyone told you we had about 6 inches of snow here? I heard your family didn’t get any, but boy did we ever! It was very beautiful, but very messy. It was an extremely wet snow, but when it was snowing it was HUGE flakes! School was out here for two days. The kids all had fun in it, but came in soaking wet everytime they went out. Brandi and the kids had to spend Sunday night with us because we had no power and at least we had the wood stove. We even cooked on it that night! I know how you have felt now. At least we only had to be without power for two days. I can’t imagine how it must be to be without it most of the time! We take things like that for granted until we don’t have them. We didn’t have water either because we have to have a pump for the well and that of course runs on electricity. I know you’re probably saying “poor things, I feel so sorry for her”! LOL I love you bunches, Aunt Brenda
