wonder how life in the stone age is.. move to nepal!

Hey guys. I had a simply fabulous Saturday.. one of those days when ministering in nepal just felt soo right. This morning my Nepalee friend Nista from my Bible Study came over and her and Leah and I walked to meet our other Nepalee friend that comes to Bible study to go to her church. Leah and I were going to speak at her and her husbands church, and Nista translated for us. I can speak in Nepalee but to do a whole service having a translator is much easier.. especially for the people from the village.

So we had a great time at her church. The ceilings were so low that Leah’s head touched!! Her church reminds me alot of what I feel like the early church in Acts was like. It was a great blessing to speak there. Then we took Nista and Massuda out to eat at our local mexican restaraunt, run by other missionaries who needed a visa and wanted to be able to eat mexican food (and it is yummy!) so It was Massuda’s son (who is 8) first time going to a restaraunt so He was so excited.. massuda’s second. Crazy huh. We laughed and talked.. it’s just so nice to be able to talk in their language
While we are the Mexican restaraunt that’s when I saw it.. the nasty newspaper article headlines. Tommorow starts 16 hours of power outage a day. I was hoping this was a rumor.. but no.. starting tommorow 16 hours a day! glory. only 24 hours in a day folks. We skipped right from 12 hours to 14 hours a day. glory glory glory.

SO leah and I are trying to keep a good attitude about it. We laugh every night and say this is a cold dark place we live in! but as we think of what a struggle it is for us, imagine for the poor shop owners, the hospitals, those who are trying to run businesses in an already very poor third world country. Please pray for them. And pray for us that we will be a literal light in this darkness. Pray for us as it is very hard for us to stay awake at night because it is very dark and cold and there is um.. not much to do at night without power. We are creative though.. don’t worry.. i’ll share with you some of our creativity in a later entry. For now I thought I would write our power outage schedule so you will know how to pray!! (or when to contact us!)

Keep in mind these are the hours the power is off

Monday: 12 am to 8 am then 12 in the afternoon to 8 in the afternoon

  1. Jenn, I am so sorry about the power, those times are awful… I would love to erad about yor creativity in what you do to stay warm and entertained. Do you feel like your hot water bottle has become your friend like “Wilson” from the movie Castway?? Do you know when the times will get better or how long it will be like this? Hang in there, friend!
