goats and grabbits :-)

This morning at 6:40 I turned my computer on to see what time it was , and I heard the most beautiful sound to wake up to. It was my sister calling me on skype. Her and my bro-in law todd were at my mom and daddy’s house. The whole fam gathered around the computer and i felt like I was right there with them. Did I mention that I have the BEST fam in the whole wide world. I laughed with them this morning soo hard that I was crying and snorting, and the girl spending the night on the couch in our living room wanted to know who I was talking to! Jean in nepal sure does love her family.. heehhee.. why were we laughing so hard?> Well we got to talking about leah and I’s newest venture..we are going to start raising goats. See we got real attached to bagmati (no curry eating of her i assure you) but we realized we needed a house built for her, that she could not stay tied to a string. So then we realized building the “goat mahal” as my dad called is was going to be expensive… so we are going to get a girl goat and have them make babies and sell them.. goats are going for a great price in nepal right now.. and when we sell it we are going to hand out a Jesus film.. hehehe… isn’t that the funniest ministry you have ever heard. Goat farming.. who would have thunk it! So my family and I laughed alot over this, and my dad said we should form a new species in nepal and mate the goat and the rabbit and make a grabbit.. hehehe.. my dad is crazy. It was so great to talk with them.

My sister and her hubby celebrate their third wedding anniversary on wednesday. I have to give a little shout out to them. I am soo happy for you guys and proud of you. Toddster, I remember on the day of you guys wedding feeling a bit sad wondering if I was going to lose my best friend. Instead.. (sorry for the cheesiness guys) I gained a better brother then I could have ever prayed for. I am soo glad that you joined our family. Thank you for fitting in with our crazy hand family… for being such a protective brother and for putting up with me when i was the annoying sister.. heheheh (I know revenge is sweet) I am so proud of you guys and i know you and michelle will make the best parents ever!

so these weeks have been crazy busy. Language school (getting there, sitting in class, getting back) is taking up most of my time but praise the lord I do love it. We have become such a little family in this class. God could not have given me a better teacher. He makes me snort laugh every day in class.. He is always picking on me.. He has made the class in such a way that we have become family and I feel so close to the people in the class. There are many buddhist, lots of europeans trying to find themselves, a jehovah witness m*ss*ionary, and tons of Japanese.. please keep praying for my mini-miss*ion field in that classroom. And pray for our very Hindu teacher Monjul to come to Jesus.. He would be such an awesome Christian!

Friday we had the Bible college girls over. It was alot of fun. There were about 20 of them…. we sat around our living room and all 25 of us played spoons… Can you imagine the chaos.. hehehe.. luckily there was only a little blood involved. Then we played Bible charades which was even funnier. Then on saturday at church there was a baptism. It was especialy neat because two of our bible college girls got baptized because there is no church in their villages to baptize them. It was a very neat service. Then sunday we had a womens conference for our church.

In four days I will celebrate my one year anniversary in nepal. I feel like in some ways it has simply been a honey moon with Jesus. It has been an incredible year. Thank you so much for taking the journey with me. Later this week I will post some more you know you have lived in nepal a year when… and some more stones of remembrance from this year.

Sorry for all the family talk.. well. i just miss them.

  1. we are pretty much the craziest fam ever:) either it is the preganant hormones, or it was just the sweet things you said about my wonderful hubbie, but I got a little teary eyed.
I dreamed I birthed a grabit last night:)

  2. Namaste Jenn Ji- Just wanted to let you know that I made it to texas around 6pm central time today. And I am praying super hard for you right now 😉 And as many hats as you and leah wear in Nepal, i would have never guessed that goat breeder/hearder would be one 🙂 Blessings!

  3. Dear, sweet Jenn,

I don’t know if we need to have a little discussion about the birds and the bees, but if you and Leah are going to raise goats, you may need to learn a little more about how they make babies. You keep saying “she” and “her” when you refer to Bagmati, but you said you were going to buy “a girl goat” so they could make babies. Hmmmm, maybe Naplee goats are different than American goats, but somehow I don’t think too many babies will come out of this new venture.

I know you want people to believe in the miracles portrayed in the Jesus film, but this method might be a little impractical (not impossible with God, mind you, but a little impractical.)

You make me laugh so much.

    Love you bunches,
    Sandra

  4. The Hand,Hogg,Phillips are all crazy families and I am proud to be a part of all of them! This adventure that you and Leah are going to start sounds quite interesting! I don’t know however about the rabbit goat idea??? Happy Anniversary by the way! It doesn’t seem like a year ago that we said goodbye to you at the airport. We love you and miss you!!! Love,Laura
