toilet bundahs and casey’s survey
Hello.. can I just say a big praise real quick.. we have water to flush the toilets with.. wahoo!! the water truck somehow made it up the road today. I never realized how much I took advantage of water. Let me tell you.. I will never complain about a cold shower again.. (maybe I should not say never) we still don’t have enough water to take a shower yet, but my team leader shyam figured out a way to rig a pipe from the gutter to fill with rain and hopefully the tank up some also.. it’s now raining all the time because monsoon has started ( I wish you could see us slipping and sliding down our road.. it’s hysterical to watch.. especially for the nepalees to watch the white girls do it!)
So I have to tell you guys the funniest thing. Things are always pretty politically charged here. So it’s no suprise to hear or a bundah or strike where you can’t leave your house. But thursday I was suprised. I went to walk to meet the girl I meet for discipleship Sita. I got to the top of the road and the road was blocked by a tire burning brick throwing kind of protest. So I decided not to try to cross the block because well.. i’m not crazy. I got back to my house and later on when my language teacher came found out why the bundah. Apparently one of the M*oist leaders had ordered another small government official to be placed in a toilet (squatty potty) by a policeman. .. can you imagine this.. so the people were really angry at him for being a toilet stuffer.. so they blockaded and called a strike until he agreed to resign. My language teacher asked me if this kind of thing happened in america. I was laughing so hard i was crying and I said no.. but hey.. i guess we’ve never had one of our government officials stuff someone else in a toilet.. so who knows what would happen!
ok.. so casey gann (my best friend from college that also came to visit me in nepal) tagged me in a blog survey– and she said she chose me to get the international perspective. So I am going to play her game.. so this may be a long post.. sorry guys.
Questions and GREAT answers
1) What was I doing ten years ago? I was a nerd in high school.. at least until my senior year.. so I was probablly doing something nerdy like being library staff and yelling at anyone that came in before they were supposed to (oh wait that was middle school.. those were painful years that I would like to block out.. who really likes middles school) I was probablly enjoying hanging out with the OBC youth group and having a crush on a guy or something like that
2) What are five things on my to do list today: well It’s now 9:35 at night and since days in nepal are great fun but exhausting I will probablly be going to bed super soon. 9) Are you a yeller when you get angry: nope.. but i do yell in my head at times at the taxi drivers.. and the villages of people that cross the road when i’m on scooter and they don’ t even look to see me coming, and the guys that sit down across the road, and the chickens.. and the pigs.. ect
10) Have you ever danced in public: as a baptist m*ss*oary maybe I should say no.. but yes.. i dance here in nepal all the time God says in psalms that he turnes our mourning into dancing, so I figure i should dance. My nepalee friends laugh at me all the time.. there was that one time at the nepalee wedding when they announced me as their special american dancer and all i remembered to do was the electric slide

19) Favorite child hood memory: My parents made sure to give me soo many favorite memories that I could not even begin. But every camping trip had a memory (usually magnified in my story telling), and I loved family game night.. but my favorite time with my family was the incredible times we had around the dinner table.. my mom was a magician and the time around our table was laid back and full of laughter and fun.. i will never forget that.. and i often try to recreate that with hospitality.. my mom had quite the gift in that.. i especially loved it when our dinners would turn into laughing fests/tea spitting throwing fits
20) Any regrets: yup.. anytime I have allowed myself to be held captive to the lies of satan instead of walking in victory of who I am in Christ.. I am walking now as a princess of the king of kings..

In all seriousness I did want to fill it out. lol Oh I just started the shack.
Jenn. your survey was definatly more interesting than mine. I guess you do have the international perspective. I have enjoyed an incredible weekend being spoiled by the culprit of that survey, casey gann. we have had such a wonderful weekend together. I am going to update my blog all about it later.
Yea!! I’m so glad you did the survey! So fun! It made me miss you like crazy, though. Michelle’s right, we did have a pretty incredible weekend. The only thing that would have made it better is if you had been there.
I love you so much!!
Time to update please! Love you!
