The woman at the well story and more

Howdy ( I thought I would change things up and be a bit southern!)
I pray that you all have had a wonderful week! I am just telling you mine has been exciting. There has defionatly been some intense spiritual warfare because there was a huge hindu holiday today but more about that later.
You know what I love about living here. You know Satan so often hits us with the same lies all the time.. he just knows how to get us to keep us from walking in truth. Lately I have been teaching my women’s Bible study on Wednesday nights about walking in TRUE faith, believing God. The other day God revealed to me (actually in a dream.. now how spiritual does that sound) an illustration. So often we struggle with the same sins.. why? Because it’s like a weed keeps growing if you do not kill the root… i believe underneath our surface sins is a root of unbelieve in either God or who God says we are. So often I find myself struggling with insecurity or pride, or jealousy.. and if I look at the root underneath that I need to pull up the root of unbelief in who God says I am. Just a thought. (By the way Bible study on wednesday was really cool.. about 22 woman 🙂

ok.. so about this hindu holiday. Today is a day when they worship the hindu god shivirati by literally smoking pot all day (now doesn’t that sound like a wholesome holiday). And the frustrating thing is that all these kids all over the road stretch out ropes across the road and ask you for money so they can give it to the hindu god. This would be ok if today I had chosen to walk and could go around, but nope.. i didn’t know about it and i drove the purple pleasure… balancing is a bit crazy on that .. and then trying not to take out small children who have rope stretched in the most ackward places…. well i’m just going to be honest the FLESH was rising up in me today. So when i made it back home to go teach at the bible college I prayed and just asked God to forgive me for my attitude towards those children in darkness. So when I was preparing to leave my home again to go help with a children’s meeting, then meet a hindu family I heard God say give them my word. So I got a bunch of tracts and next time I set out and the literally tons of kids were out with their ropes I was able to give the nepalee girl on the back of my motorcyle tracts to give to them… it was soo awesome.
ok so one more story and then i’m done..
so today I was meeting with Sita the girl I disciple and we are reading through john 4 and we were discussing the woman at the well. I’ve always known that it was a big deal for jesus to talk to a Samartan.. but it didn’t really register with me until today. Sita was like you know she was in a low caste. See in Nepal there is a strong caste system. If you are in the low caste, like the samaritan woman you are considered untouchable. Sita went on to tell me that the girl that works for us in our house (who is such a gift from God and we love soo much) she has become a great friend of ours. She is 30 and unmarried (which is very uncommon here) and from the same village as sita, and it’s so fun because they are also friends so they are always at our house and we pretty much eat lunch together everyday. She went on to describe how in the village Sita wouldnot be alllowed to touch something maya had touched because she was a low caste, or come inside her house or anything. That maya used to be so sad because she was always treated so badly, but now that she works for us she feels loved by God because we treated her like a friend. For instance, we invited sita and maya over on saturday to have dinner with us and our language teacher. We cooked and had them sit in the living room and watch a movie. This was a HUGE deal for them. Even bigger deal i found out.. my language teacher (who is also from their same village.. hope this is not to confusing) is a very high caste and would have never eaten in the same house, let alone at the same table as maya or sita in the village.. but on saturday we all sat around the same table and ate a meal cooked by us high class americans.. apparently this was a HUGE deal. WOw.. brings to life how amazing that Jesus touched the untouchables.. that he offered water from the same well… that he invites us all to come to his table and dine with him at the marriage supper of the lamb… i’m just saying…. let’s feast!

  2. Yes I noticed that you commented on your own blog. You are still my funny girl. I love you and miss you. Again your writting is wonderful, this from your #1 fan! You have got to write a book. Your writting about the different classes there and them not being able to even eat together in their village and them eatting together and your house makes me think about as God’s children we are all one class in His eyes if we choose Him we will be able to eat at the table of the King of kings one day and we can drink from the same cup of living water today on earth. I think someone is rubbing off on me what do you think. You are a good example to follow but I can never write like you do. Love you lots. I hope we get to talk to you soon! We will be starting the D Now weekend tonight. This will be different because we will have a house full of boys. Pray for us!

  3. Jenn,

I had a whole long comment written to you and I lost it. Something broke in me as I read your post. I am so humbled that Jesus touched me when I was untouchable because of my sin. We as americans often think we better than other people. At least Nepal is honest about it, we just wear our mask and pretend. Oh God, please forgive me and us.

Thank you for reaching out and touching Nepal Jenn. I read about that god you talked about in a college course, and the class system, but hearing you makes it more real. I love you! Keep fighting the good fight, and remember the battle is the Lord’s!

  4. oh my profound jenn. I am always in awe when I read what God has given you. I just want to bow down at Jesus feet every time I read. I am so proud of you! I love
