a village in darkness

Malai pratna tapai ko lagie tapiharu ectdum sunsay cha (I just said that I am praying that you guys are going well) (this is probablly spelled really wrong.. i only know how to write in nepalee characters now, not nepalee english).

I hope that you guys had an awesome weekend. I had an incredible weekend. Sorry I am just now writing this.. we have defionatly been having some electricity problems.. even like tonight when we are supposed to have electricity all day and do not.. oh well.. we are used to it! 🙂

So I had an incredible weekend. Saturday after church my friends Sita and Maya came over and then my language teacher and his wife. This was the first time I had ever met his wife. Leah and I had a great time cooking for them before they came. I made chicken cordon bleu.. now I must say I was pretty impressed because I didn’t even make that in america 🙂 So it was just awesome to have them at our house and enjoy spending time with them. I so long for them to be in heaven with us someday.. please pray for Suman as he knows more about Jesus then most people, but he says he has not seen him so how can he believe.

Then on Sunday we went with one of my Bible study ladies to her village. It is so cool because God keeps giving us these incredible ministry oppertunities.. I’ve noticed that we don’t even have to seek them out he has just given them to us. 🙂 So leah and I went to the village with Esther. Esther is a lady who was brought to Christ after being severly affected by demon possession. Now I know that you don’t hear about that in America, but it is really prevelant here in Nepal as the people worship Satan clearly. So she had previously been suicidcal, hearing voices, unable to go to school, hitting hersellf and having fainting spells until she accepted Christ. After that her whole family accepted Christ. So we went back to her village because she wanted us to “preach” to the ladies. When we got to her village her cousins son was there, who had just 30 minutes prior to when we got there had thrown himself in the road, fainted and refused to get up. They said he had been having these spells for months and had been unable to go to school therefore they were really worried. This was a hindu family and was the same thing that happened to esther before she met christ. Again and again we encountered people like this. It is so obvious that Satan thinks he has quite the stronghold on this village. But itw as awesome this morning aswe waited outside for the ladies to come. About 10 ladies came the first time, with their foreheads covered in the red paste which showed they had been to the temple that day. They were all Hindu and I got to share the gospel in nepalee for about 30 minutes. It was so awesome. Then another round of ladies came. sometimes I just have to pinch myself because I living exactly the life God called me to live.. and I feel so alive as I am doing it! Glory! It was awesome to share the light of God’s word in this darkness. I may not have gotten all the nepalee words right, but our friend esther also translated from my nepalee (she doesn’t speak english but she could add to my nepalee) and I am trusting God’s word does not return void. Afterwards, one lady was really really interested ( I have gotton to where I can tell here) and asked for a Bible..the other lady was also really interested but said she could not get saved until after 2 months because it will cause a real family problem. This is a big deal here in nepal.. christianity means losing your family and your whole culture here in nepal. Then another woman came and asked us for help to stop the voices yelling at her in her head telling her to committ suicide.

So wow.. some heavy stuff in this village. But we got to share.. and I am so glad for Ephesians 6.. the armor of God that protects us from the evil one. What a blessing the belt of truth is, the breastplate of righteousness, to have our feet wtih the gospel of peace, to have the helmet of salvation, to have the shield of faith, and the sword of the Spirit… wow. I was using it this weekend.

our God is soo big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing our God cannot do!

  1. Jennifer I read your blogs in amazement. God is using you in such a awesome way. What you said about us never thinking about this happening to people in these times is right we think people being possesed like that was in the bible times. I thank God that He is protecting you. We look forward to talking to you soon. Daddy is preaching and doing the music at Bob Z.’s church on March 16th. He is going to get with Casey’s daddy to work something up. Daddy is going to be the spiritual director on the men’s walk. We went camping last weekend and had a good time. We had some electrical and water problems with the motorhome but it wouldn’t be a Hand trip without some problems would it. We love you very much!!! P.S. I mailed the package to Casey so she will be able to bring the things to you when she comes. I changed your number to what you asked me to.

  2. Hey Jenn,

I know you are in a spiritual battle ground like I cannot begin to imagine. I regularly ask God to provide you with appointments. It is great to be able to see God’s faithfullness in his provision for you and Leah.

Our God is indeed great! I believe demomic things may began happening more in the coming days in America if we stay on the road we are on now. Yes, Jenn it is really me talking, I know saying things like that is not in my nature, but I believe things will get far worse worldwide before Jesus returns.

I hope you know how proud I am of you, and I thank for sharing about Papa to everyone. Jenn I’m praying for a heart of love like yours! Love and prayers,

    -Teej

  3. Hey dearest! Wow! What an incredible weekend you had! I love you tons and can’t wait to see your face very soon! I got the package from your mom so I’ll have lots of fun things for you. I love you!

  4. Jenn,
I’m so amazed at the ways God is using you in Nepal. I can’t begin to imagine trying to share the gospel in a foreign language. It took me weeks to prepare for the retreat, and I was speaking in English! As I was praying for you this morning and referring to the specific requests you asked us to pray for each day of the week, I was thanking God for the way He has answered the prayer for Tuesday. You asked us to pray that you would have effective language learning and a supernatural love for the people of Nepal. You also asked us to pray against loneliness and fear. Just look how our faithful God has answered those requests!

What a testimony you are to God’s goodness and His unfailing love – a love that is still reaching out to the people of Nepal and touching them through your hands.

    Love you bunches,
    Sandra
