me a translator
To my favorite people inthe whole world. first i just have to say tj and mama ellis i just love you guys. thank you so much for sending me christmas in a box.. i just loved it. I got it today and i was thrilled! 🙂 I am so excited to have a small christmas tree and especially especially excited about the michael w. smith CD….. you guys have been soo good to me. And dorothy I am so happy that i got your package today also.. complete the tape was not torn or anything. I loved the things in it so thank you very very much!…. ok… so yesterday i had an incredible experience. I went to visit the hospital i worked at my first summer here with my two teammates that spent that summer with me.. they are here for a week visiting. So we went back and hung and it was so cool because i served as everyone’s translator.. crazy huh. It is totally the result of your prayers for my language ability because i was just amazed that i was was able to translate for them… thank you jesus.. mahima. We went to visit the orthapedic ward and just walked in the rooms and begin talking to people. It was so cool because they all were so sad and then a few minutes after we came they just had huge smiles on their faces. The most exciting thing though was that i got to pray for them.. out loud.. in nepalee. wow.. that was huge. i have never prayed out loud in public in nepalee and i got to pray over this whole room of people with severe health problems and just pray for God to heal them. I opened my eyes and they were just grinning from ear to ear. And i am not quite able to speak enough to clearly share the gospel in nepalee.. but i was able to try to communicate that Jesus is the only way to them. Wow. It was an important moment to me and i realized how much strength God has given me. I am so blessed to live this life.
so leah my teammate and i are working on getting our house all “doodied up”.. we picked out carpet and flooring yesterday because the bare cement floors are really cold..and i know now why wedding showers are a must.. it’s alot to figure out to buy everything……. pots pans plates (that would be a cool song) chainicha (wooops.. went into nepalee.. chainicha means i need). So anyways– our God is so good. This morning i was having a bit of a homesick moment as my family was decorating for chrismtas and i wanted to be there.. but then i remembered that Jesus left his home in heaven.. that’s a lot bigger deal then me leaving tennessee for nepal, for a stinky manger that probablly smelled alot like nepal to SAVE me…… wow.. now that’s a reason to celebrate christmas. Mahima.
Jenn,
This is one of your best enttries ever, and not because my name is it. lol. Your entry is such a blessing! I am so sorry you are dealing with homesickness, but it would not be normal if you didn’t. I am glad you got the package, did you get your dog Keeper Clause?
How is Leah doing? How cool you were able pray in nep for those paients. Your prayers in english sometimes were at times enough to make me smile, cry, and even laugh, so I can only imagine your prayers in Nepali. We all love and miss you Jenn Hand! Hope we can talk soon!
Jenn,
What better way to celebrate Jesus’ birth than by visiting Him in the orthopedic ward of a Nepalee hospital! That story was such a blessing to me.
I’m also praising God for answering our prayers regarding your language learning. You just didn’t know how proficient you had gotten, did you? I’m just glad Leah has arrived so you’ll have someone to “practice” your English on! We still want you to be able to write to us in a language we understand, you know!
Your comment about the stinky manger reminded me of the live Nativity scene we had at Christmas on the River. You could smell the farm animals before you even got close to the display. It made me think about how much Jesus humbled himself to come to earth. As the angels rejoiced over His birth in Bethlehem, God knew that His Son was headed to a cross on Golgotha. And yet, He still sent Him to us. It’s still hard for me to fathom that kind of love.
However, I get a glimpse of God’s love when I see a young lady from Chattanooga leave her family, her friends, and the comforts of the United States to go to a foreign country and live in unsanitary conditions just to share His love with the people there.
You are His chosen vessel, Jenn Hand.
Love you bunches,
Sandra
Jenn: This entry was awesome! You have know idea how much you bless us with your stories from Neapl. It was great to hear you and TJ talking on the webcam last night. You still look great! Love, Momma Ellis
