christmas decorating, quick niko lagyo (quick healing from sickness) and more

Hey guys.. Tapailai sun sai cha? I just asked you how you were. This is said to everyone that you meet here in nepal. So again, I promise to soon be back to my faithful blogging self.. if you knew how crazy it has been here.. i have moved and then moved back downstairs again, my teamleader and my regional director have been in town and i am preparing my new house for my new team mate.. crazy times.
So yesterday i got sick, (birami cha).. the throw up and other stuff and chills and fever kind of sick. I’m suprised because with the american guests that were in town we ate at some nice restraunts.. maybe my stomache isn’t used to that anymore.. hehehe.. regardless I spent all day yesterday in bed or in the toilet.. ok.. not in the toilet but you know what i mean. It was a good time to rest and spend with jesus in between wakawaka (that’s the word for throw-up here in nepalee..isn’t that awesome!) so my nepalee friend that i disciple was so cute.. she was so worried about me when she saw me sick and pale that she wanted to take care of me.. so she brought me soup.. well what she thought was soup…. but it was a packet of turkey gravy from america.. have you ever been throwing up and have someone in love bring you turkey gravy? So i ate as much as i could– and well you can imagine the results.. but there is a wonder drug that you get here called cipro that kills any parasite inside of you and anything else frankly— nathan brought me some and i woke up this morning completely healed.. praise jesus. I feel great! 🙂
so we moved my stuff back downstairs to my new home (which is the same home i was living in except now with no furniture yet) and then we had a party! (or course that is what i love to do!) so at the party there was about 15 nepalees and we have a dinky christmas tree with ornaments lights, so we made my new home officially ready for the holidays and decorated.. they were so cute and enjoyed it so much.. . i am now sitting beside my blinking christmas tree… after we put it up we sang christmas songs in nepalee. It was a really special time for me. It made me realize how blessed i am.. and made me remember all the wonderful times i have had with my family in america around christmas.. we are the cheesiest christmas family– and I want you guys to know i miss you. But I loved how God has given me a nepalee family here also– and all 16 of us decorated this tiny little tree that looks alot like charlie brown. As you read this.. would you just say a prayer that God would use us during this christmas season to shine the light of christ.. that i will be a blinking light in the darkness like these christmas lights on my tiny tree– rangie changie (very colorful) to those who see only darkness.

God bless you and I love you all

  1. hey dearie. cipro is a miracle drug:) I’m on drugs right now too. I finally went to the doctor about my sinus infection I’ve had for a month…..they gave me lots of antibiotics..I’m glad you got to decorate for Christmas. Todd and I are decorating Friday, and hopefully decorating at the rents house soon:) I will miss you a ton…but I promise we will have fun without you.
I love you and miss you!

  2. Jenn,

I like your analogy, but I don’t think you are a “blinking light in the darkness.” You are a constant beam of radiant light shining along the pathway for others to find their way out of darkness.

I’m so glad you had friends to help you decorate for Christmas, and I’m glad it was a special time for you. I believe God has something really special for you this Christmas. Even though you are far away from home and from the traditions that have always made this holiday so special to you, I believe He has some hidden nuggets of wisdom to share with you this year.

I can’t wait to hear about the things He teaches you as you celebrate the Light of the World coming to dwell among us.

    Love you bunches,
    Sandra

  3. Hey girl,

I am so sorry you’ve been really sick. Do you have Marsha’s tree up? Also when was the last time you went to the post office? We love you! Talk soon.

  4. Hey sweet friend. I have a confession to make. Sometimes I’m suspicious that you make up words and tell us their Nepalee for whatever you want to say. It’s a fun game really! Sani hongie pultrumus nohange setpumrus=Merry Christmas.

C’mon! You can be honest with us! I love you!!

  5. JENN: I am so sorry that you have been so sick! We always feel like it comes at the worst time, but I’m so thankful that Nathan got you some good medicine and you are on your way to recovery and feeling much better. I think you should post a picture of your Charlie Brown tree! I bet it is very cute! I want to catch you on the web cam and see it one evening before Christmas. You hang in there and we are praying for you. love, Momma Ellis
