waffle house nepalee style :-)
Howdy. I just wanted to use a southern greeting for one. I hope this finds you all doing well. I had a fabulous day today. I can really feel your prayers. The Lord has been really loving on me during my quiet times, which always makes it a better day. He is teaching me soo much about me and Him. Right now he is teaching me about spiritual warfare, and how in the midst of all the oppression here, He has already won! So we can get our party hats on and celebrate.
so today I had on my heart to minister to the nepalee woman who runs the oprhanage. Her and her husband are incredible christians and walk in so much faith. She just recently lost her two day old baby, so she is still really sad and trying to run an oprhanage with 20 kids. She doesn’t get much time away. So I invited her and my house helper to come for lunch. It’s always such an adventure cooking here– but I have found I love it.. i am learning to make so many things from scratch that I never wouold have imagined. So today I made my house the waffle house for lunch, without the smoke and the jutebox, (although i-tunes was playing in the background). I made homemade pancake mix (no bisquick for me), something that semi resembled bacon (not really sure what it was. but we ate it.. wow.. i know i have been here for a while when I am the one cooking the unidentifiable meat) and southwestern style omlets. We had a great time and it seemed to really minister to Ruth, the oprhange director. She brought the only child in the orphanage that is to young to go to school, she is 2 and the cutest thing ever. We had a great time.
And then you should have seen me in language lessons. My poor cute ol’ nepalee teacher was trying to teach me how to say He is in front of the chair, and the chair is in front of him. Sounds easy huh? I was having a very difficult time with it.. heheh after about 30 minutes he got tired of standing in front of the chair, and wejust laughed and said we would try again later. I was feeling very frustratred with the craziness of nepalee language until he asked me where I lived in america and i tried to expain to him how we say ooltewah. So english is crazy to. or at least southern english is.
At the market today i am pretty sure that i said the wrong word and made a man think that i was accepting his marriage proposal. I was trying to say ma nepalma nakoo baschu (i live in nakuu) and ma kun des janchua america (i am from the country of nepal).. well he emphatically started shaking my hand, pointint to his name badge and saying Ma american janubayo. I am used to just smiling and agreeing here– and before I knew it i realized that i was agreeing to take him to america to marry me. Guess he left disappointed huh?
for the Lord my maker is my husband!!
i’m going to the moutnaisn tommorow– glory. Pray they were able to finish filling the tank with gas.. they have had to go every night and wait for 5 or 6 hours in line to get gas……
Jenn: I wish I could have seen a picture of the nepalee man that you were agreeing to marry! I bet he was disappointed. Ha! Ha! I sure hope you get to go to the mountains and get away from the pollution! You had a terrible cough on the web cam the other evening. I think you need a good dose of lemon, honey, and whiskey! Just kidding! I am so thankful that you were able to minister to Ruth! I cannot imagine what she is going through. Did you get some pictures of the children when you visited the other evening? We would love to see some of them, if you can. I have clothes in my bed room that Denise gave me to pack and ship to you. I hope to get a package off soon! We all want to help in what ever way we can. Well, I must go get some gas myself or I want make it to work in the morning! Tomorrow is Friday and I sure am glad! Take care…..Thinking of you daily! I put up a map in my class room yesterday for my Art History class and the map had nepal right there, so every time I look at it I think of you! Madeline
I have not laughed so hard in foever! You accepted a marriage proposal? Houston would for sure be jealous and so am I lol You will never know how much your skype message meant to me. It has been a good day, I met a nice guy today who lo0ves MWS! It was a God thing. Your Nep teacher sounds like a blast! You are blessing my socks off!!!
I am glad you seem to be at peace. I am going to go spend some time in prayer here shortly. Have an awesome trip to the mountains! As always I love you Your sister is going to crack up when she reads this. We will miss you Sunday night.
Waffle house! Did you teach the ladies how to do the cha cha? Did it make you miss Karen…and Burt’s chili…and lots of post-BSU evenings?
I miss you a lot and all of your craziness. Thanks so much for being so faithful to write!
Jenn,
Should we start planning your wedding now? T.J. could sing, and I could help decorate.
You are such a hoot! There’s never a dull moment with Jenn Hand. When word gets out that you accept marriage proposals so readily, you may have a whole group of men lined up at your door. Then you could serve them one of your great meals with indefinable meat and check out all of your prospects at one time. He, he, he.
I trust that your friends were able to get enough gas to go to the mountains this weekend. I pray you have lots of fun, food, fellowship, fresh air and most of all, intimate moments with your true Husband, Jesus Christ.
Love you bunches,
Sandra
Well when is the wedding??? hehe. I didn’t know you went to the market to find a husband. I am going to see your family today. I hope that I get to talk to you while I am there. Love you!!!
Aunt Laura
Jenn, you’re awesome! You better not get married without inviting your brother to the wedding!
