the blessing of community

so I just love how the Lord loves on us. His timing and his ways are so amazing. SO this week has been one of those times when to be perfectly honest culture shock has made me a little irritable with some of the things that come with being an “alien in a foreign land”. I have been told this is completly normal.. so this week God’s gift and his timing has been perfect because I needed a little time with some americans that could just kind of be with and not have to constantly be examined, stared at and struggle to communicate the simplest things to. I am not saying that these things always irritate me, for I have loved my time here… however this week God knew I just needed some extra laughter and community. SO he has provided it abundantly. so this week two great friends that i have made here are leaving to go back to america.. so most of the evenings this week have been filled with goodbye parties. It’s amazing how quickly you get to know someone when you are here in this place for the same purpose. So monday nite I had an amazing time with the girls.. we had chili (and it’s beginning to feel like fall here) and laughed so hard and just had a fun old slumber party. I love the gift of the Lord.

The tonight my friend that is moving back to coloroda and her sister came over. We went out and had some awesome indian food and then came back to my house, had worship together, and then watched SAVED BY the BELL DVD once the power came back on (we have a schedule 3 hour outage 3 nights out of the week here). Thanks michelle.. it was awesome! 🙂 (especially the sprain episode).

And I am super excited because for those of you that know I have a passion to someday work wtih the nep. women here who are sold into sex trafficing, to help rescue them and provide the hope of the gospel to them. Well a prayer group meets here in KTM on Wednesday nights to pray for this specific problem in nepal.. so I am going to go for the first time tommorow night. I am really excited about the oppertunity to pray!
Tommorow I am also going with my nepal. best friend to buy a sari for our bible college graduation. I am excited about that. She is a great language helper and friend.. and I love getting the oppertuity to disciple her.

I love how the Lord knows exactly what we need before we ask it. At first I felt guilty, like I should be out ministering… not just hanging out with these american girls. But then I remembered.. when you are at the feet of Jesus, dancing with him, ministry can look several different ways.. sometimes you are cha chaing through the streets, picking up people and sharing your dance partner with them as you go… other times it’s a slow waltz as your feet are on his and it’s an intimate time with your savior.. other times He knows when you just need a big ol he’hawing squaredancing kind of time.. where you just cut loose. I am grateful for the ways the Lord has taken me squaredancing this week!

  3. Jenn,

You really should be a comedian! You have e-mail! I know working with women has always been your dream! Isn’t it great papa knows you so well! I’m lifting you up! You have this thing about dancing laugh* I’m proud of you for becoming a Mary in Martha based world! How’s Nathan doing? I have the sprain episode also!

  4. You are ridiculous in my favorite way. Maybe it’s only my favorite way b/c it’s you. I’m not sure I could handle anyone else talking about squaredancing with Jesus. What I can handle, though, is the mental picture of you doing the cha cha in the streets. Waffle House anyone??

  5. Yaahh Jenn. I’m glad you had a great time with the partying and dancing and stuff… doesn’t sound very missi**ary like the way I said it does it. Hee hee..

I am also very excited and intrigued about the prayer meeting you will be attending to stop woman trafficking!!! I am all about that… I’ll be joining you there soon.

    Love ‘ya,
    Leah

  6. Jenn,
When I think everything is bad here, I just read your blog and your spirit lifts me up to the heavens. I cannot wait until you get back to Tennessee and share all the stories you have. The knowledge you gain today will be the destiny for many when you return. Life is great when you visualize the dance you are doing for Jesue. The freedom of spreading your wings like a young butterfly just fascinates me. Your are emerging as a beautiful Christian and I love you dearly for that.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  7. Jenn,

Your analogies about dancing are so funny, but they paint such an awesome picture of how much we should enjoy the time we spend with the Lord. I went to a Chonda Pierce concert a couple of weeks ago, and her topic for the evening was getting free enough to dance with Jesus. She ended the show with a great song that said, “Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance. I just want to praise You, just want to praise You.”

I think it is safe the say that there are no shackles on your feet, Jenn! I can’t wait to hear about the prayer meeting.

    Love,
    Sandra
