sari shopping and smells

Good afternoon folks– (doesn’t that sound like the intro to a game show or something)
I hope that you guys are doing great. Can I just way two big ol thankyou’s first.. thank you so much to those of you who read this blog and thank you for commenting.. your comments mean to world to me.
2nd thank you : To the wonderful people who sent me mail. It is so encouraging to go across town and get mail.. especially you sandra rose– you win the award.. everytime I go to my box there has been an amazing card from you.. THANK YOU guys… sandra, tj, kauri.

ok.. so yesterday i didn’t get to go to the prayer meeting– but that’s ok they have it everyweek. I went shopping to buy a sari, which is traditional fancy nep. wear. It wraps around you and you wear it for fancy occasions. I had to get one for the Bible college graduation. It was quite a fun ordeal…and as usual here took longer then expected. Me and my nep. roomie and my nepalee friend sita went and we had a ball.. typical girl laughing and such. Then I took them to a restraunt that sortof makes american pizza. We really did have a great time. I can’t wait to show you guys the finished product.
I wish you could have seen me on the bus today. They love to play this game called how many people and animals can you pack on a small bus. It’s hilarous. It’s also quite an unforgetable smellly experience.. as you are right under people’s un-deoderized armpits. I wish you guys could experience the variety of smells in nepal. I think they should bottle it up and sell it (just kidding)– a mixture of strong curry, onion, garlic, human waste, garbage, burning and disel fuel.. yum!
I joke with people that i am beginning to smell also. All the curry seeps out of your system.. and due to water shortage and the lack of hot water (our water is heated by the sun and there has been no sun) I take a shower only when necessary!

God does call us to be a fragrant offering huh? I just pray that I am the aroma of Christ!

  1. I agree with Casey I don’t think Jesus smells like curry but we don’t know do with. I know that you might need a shower but people still see Jesus in you because you are filled to the brim with Jesus so you have to give off the aroma of Christ because He has to be leaking out of you. Can’t wait to see your sari I know you will be beautiful. It was great to get to talk to you last night. Please pray for Emma she is very sick. The doctor put her in the hospital in Athens yesterday and they are transfering her to the childrens hospital in Atlanta today. It is something to do with her kidneys and Brenda told Laura they were doing a biopsy when they get her to Atlanta. I know she is a very scared little five year old girl. I will let you know when I hear something. Love you lots and lots!!

  2. Jenn,

More mail is coming dear. I’m going to call and check on Sandra here soon. She had surgery today.

I am glad you are min****** to the girls. You are the sweet aroma of Christ. Remember John the Baptist likely didn’t smell lovely in one since either, but Jesus sung his praise.

Sorry we keep getting cut off on skype. Love you!

  3. Jenn,

You are truly amazing. As a person with a very sensitive nose, I can’t imagine dealing with all of the offensive smells you have described in this blog. I even found myself scrunching up my nose while I was reading it!

I think about your lack of heated water every time I take a warm shower. It reminds me to be thankful for the conveniences we take for granted. It also reminds me to pray that the Lord will strengthen you and sustain you as you pour your life out as a fragrant offering to Him.

    Love you bunches,
    Sandra

  4. Jenn,

Love you like a brother! Miss you but know you are doing our father’s work. Athens was beautiful on Sept 15, when Full Circle raised the most it has ever raised on a fund raiser. Praise our father. I am going to the mountain to serve dinner tomorrow evening, please remember the walk. I am also still writing my talk, you know the word that no one knows. Be looking for big mail.

    Jennifer

  5. Jenn, You probably don’t even know me. My name is Donna and I attend church where Van Sliger is pastor. I just got thru reading your blogs and have laughed out loud with the diarrhea stories. Your dedication to God is inspiring. I wanted you to know that our church is lifting you up in prayer. Also, you are a sweet savor in Jesus’s nostrils no matter how you physically smell. I just wanted you to know what an inspiration you are to me. May God bless your socks off…
