chicken pot pie and crocs! :-) (is it always about food?)

Hey guys. I realize that most all of my posts involve food or me falling in the mud.. heheh.. that’s typical me huh! First of all, I have to give a shout out on here to the person who made croc shoes. I must admit in america I thought they were ugly, wondered what all the rave was about– why would you want shoes with holes in it? Let me tell you why– for monsoon in nepal! Those holes come in handy as you walk, swim, skip jump through water up to your knees at times. I also love love the inventor of umbrellas! They say this is very unusual flooding for here.. and I am talking true flooding. To get in my driveway today there was water up to my ankles.. and often i think my taxi becomes a boat before I can stop it! 🙂 It’s a little crazy getting a taxi right now. They have run out of petrol in the valley (gas).. so that means there isn’t any. The lines to get the little bit they have stretch literally for miles and miles. So next time you think.. why am I paying this much for gas.. just be glad you don’t have to wait in a gas station line for literally days. (heheh. i love the guy that sells cotton candy and drinks to those waiting in line.. what a great idea!)

I made a list in my head of the things I have come to love about here.. here is just a few, I will share them with you often:

1) You don’t have to be always able to communicate. people just want your presence. I don’t have to fill the air with talking. (for the first time in my life I have to be silent). God is the same way– we don’t have to fill the air with our talking. sometimes he just wants our presence.

2) People here tell me I am moti (fat) all the time.. but then tell me that’s beautiful. My tiny roommate tells me she hates that she is skinny she wants to be fat like me. Bring on the cookies eh!
3) That when you walk down the street you often aren’t walking alone. It’s quite normal to walk with cows, goats, chickens and pigs.. and then pass the butcher shop with the goats tied watching their friends become dinner
4)That there truly is never a dull moment.. everything is an adventure.. or maybe that’s just for me
5) That I went to the post office and I actually had mail.. (thank you soo much sandra.. that meant soo much to me)
ok.. I will continue the list later. As for the chicken pot pie.. yeah daddy just for you I made a homemade chicken pot pie today– pie crust and everything. I was so excited.. and it tasted good. I know.. here i am being prideful again. I had my team of friends over that are traveling to tibet for two weeks (including my teammate) to pray with them. We had a great prayer time.. please pray for them as they distribute materials to the lost.
ok.. oh yeah– and i posted a picture of my cute old nep. teacher.
love ya.. sorry this was so random

  1. Jenn, you are so funny. I am so blessed everytime I can read one of your posts.
I bought a pair of crocs for a trip to Mexico, and I thought they were the ugliest shoes ever. I thought I would throw them away when I got home, but they have turned out to be may fave’s. They are comfortable, but mostly fool-proof. I don’t think you can mess them up! You are a rare jewel–

    Love Ya,
    Leanne

  2. Jennifer,I love reading your blogs.I have been getting caught up on all of them.I came home last night (Wed.),it was time to come home after 3 weeks. I miss you very much and love you so much!!!Keep up the hilarious antics, never a dull moment in the life of Jennifer Hand.

  3. Jenn,

I’m so happy to know that my card reached you. I was wondering how long it would take to make it all the way to South Asia.

It’s amazing how often God brings you to my mind and has me pray for you. I always wonder, “What is happening to Jenn now?” I’m always so thankful when you’ve updated your blog, and I get to see a small glimpse of what God is doing in and through you.

I email your stories to lots of my friends so they can pray for you and “your people” as well. Most of the time I get emails back from them saying, “Wow, I feel like such a wimpy Christian whenever I read her blogs!” Just look how God is using you to share His love there and also to convict us regarding our lack of passion for the lost around us here.

I can’t put into words what a blessing you are to me and to so many others. Thank you for being obedient to the call of God and for reminding us of how greatly He can use someone whose heart is totally commited to Him.

    Love you bunches!
    Sandra

Your Nep teacher looks likw a neat man. You’ll never know how much I needed to be reminder that God does not need my mindless chatter, and he just longs for my stillness sometimes.

You bring such joy to us all. I miss you extra today. Tomorrow is the big night lol, and my testimony is the 16th. That tain must be so hard. Give Nathan my regards. Thank you for friendship and all you teach me. Love You!

  5. Hey Jennifer,

I thought I would Google your name and see what I got. Well, I got you. How cool! I’m glad everything is going good. I’m going to go search your site now and see if I can find any photos of cute kids. Take care!
