dinner party ministry :-)
I have decided that the best place to have ministry is in your home.. opening your home, everyone sharing food and laughter– this is univeral all the world over. I had my second big party tonight. It was actually very sporadic. I went and substitute taught an English class at the Bible college and decided to invite all the girls (13) over to my house to dinner. So I ran to the market in a taxi with my langugue teacher (he wanted a free ride and i didn’t care because i get a much better deal when a nep. is with me). I got the stuff at 5:00 and they all came over at around 6:00. It was hilarous because when I left the market, which is about a 30 minute walk, it begin to pour down rain. Of course, there are always taxis literally running me over trying to get me in them, and when it’s pouring down rain there is not a taxi driver to be found. And the ones that i didn’t find found more amusement in my soggy mascera running face then in offering me a taxi. I was a bit frustrated at first, but then i realized how much i loved the rain, so i just started singing in it!
so I came home and cooked nep. version of spahgettic (buff meat and homemade sauce.. i feel like martha would be proud again)… and then all the girls came over. We had a BLAST. We ate, sang, and LAUGHED or heads off (and we danced to 🙂 I have found that there are things that are so univeral. One of my biggest ministries is just walking down the street and smiling at people– people do not do that here. And when a blonde hair blue eyed girl smiles– they don’t know what to think. Or laughing– you don’t have to speak the same language to laugh.. So It was an awesome time of fellowship and sharing, a little in nepalee and little in english. We sang praise songs in both languages, and I shared with them about the fact that they are princesses of the King (that’s the universal message i have to give ladies you know!) Then we prayed together.. it was awesome. Hearing their stories of their families, and how they lose their families when they become christians is very humbling. What a mighty we gift we have in freedom in christ!
Please continue to pray for my langugae learning. I just love my teacher– but glory after about one and a half hour i feel like i can’t even speak english anymore. I have learned to read though. I actually read full sentances today! sooo just keep praying for the gift of nepalee tounge 🙂
i’m headed to bed now.
have a great night
Jenn,
Please tell your new Nepalee friends that I think they are all very beautiful. I’m so happy to know that you had such a great dinner party/ministry time with them.
I can’t wait to hear about your next adventure. Thank you so much for taking all of us on this trip with you.
Love,
Sandra Rose
Jenn,
You have included me in a new adventure. I have never done blogging before. You feel so close despite the miles. I needed to see the pictures of your smiling face today and also to picture your wet face turned up to the rain. Trust him.
I was tempted by your chocolate cake, but recommend lemon/limeade pie for the busy girl. Do you have access to (1)frozen lime or lemonade (2) Cool Whip (3)Sweetened Condensed Milk? Stir these together and pour over crushed graham crackers and your family will think you are AMAZING.
I’ve been saying glory often lately and thinking of you. What a great living legacy–one who brings the glory of God to mind.
Sharron Padgett provided the link that brings me to you today. I’ll return another day if I can find my way back.
I love you so much!!! Karen Knott
